Last week Ford told us the 2014 Fiesta, the smallest car in its lineup, would be offered with a new, fuel-saving 1-liter EcoBoost engine. Ford notes this week that the 2014 Fiesta will also get a new version of its MyFord Touch infotainment system, which marks the first time this model gets a navigation option.… Read more
Peugeot is capitalizing on the familiar "renew, reuse, recycle" campaign by adding "regenerate." The French car maker will debut the all-new 208 in Europe in the spring of 2012, replacing the 206 and 207 models.
The automaker also introduced a new range of three-cylinder engines promising fuel economy of 83.1 mpg (2.83 l/100km) using the diesel engines. The 1.0- and 1.2-liter VTi gas engines, also available, offer an estimated 65.7 mpg (3.58 l/100km).
The 208 has been completely redesigned. The controls are positioned around a small steering wheel, … Read more
This year, Ford is choosing to focus on the B- and C-segment 2011 Fiesta and 2012 Focus and will be filling its booth with custom examples of each. We got a sneak peek at 10 renderings of these tiny customs and are happy to see that they run the gamut. When you think subcompact, you're probably thinking giving up horsepower, cargo space, tech options, and safety. But this isn't so for the 2012 Hyundai Accent.
The new Accent comes in a smart four-door GLS spec and a sporty five-door hatch, in GS and SE trims. With a direct-injection 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine, the Accent offers 138 horsepower at 6,300rpm and 123 pound-feet of torque at 4,850rpm.
The Accent four-door is slightly larger than its predecessor (3.5 inches longer and a wheelbase that's 2.8 inches longer). It also bests the Toyota Yaris, Ford Fiesta, … Read more
It's only been on roads for a few months, but the Ford Fiesta is already getting a few changes for the 2012 model year, including mostly appearance customization options, but also one small performance upgrade.
Leading off the new customization options is a sport appearance package that supposedly evokes the European Ford Focus RS with blacked-out side mirrors, headlamp housings, front grille, license plate header, and rear spoiler. However, this appearance package is not just all show and no go. When equipped with the six-speed manual transmission, the sport appearance package also gains a slight performance advantage in the … Read more

Three years ago, when the price of gasoline shot past $4 a gallon, Detroit's automakers were trapped.
They couldn't give away the boatload of trucks that had long been the bread and butter--and profit generators--of the Detroit 3. With gasoline prices rising and with scant offerings in the small-vehicle segment, Detroit's sales plunged even before the financial crisis invaded in September 2008.
Last week, oil passed $100 a barrel, and gasoline prices rose to $3.50 a gallon in some markets. This time the Detroit 3 are in a better position to make money and not give … Read more
Ford's booth at the SEMA Show is never a disappointment. Often it's filled to the brim with custom Mustangs, crazy F-Series pickups, more Mustangs, the occasional low-slung GT, and a few classic Mustangs. This year, however, it appears that Ford is giving center stage to the smallest of its lineup, the 2011 Ford Fiesta, bringing no fewer than eight examples of the little guy to the show in the desert. Other freshly updated models will also have their time in the aftermarket spotlight, including the Taurus SHO, the new Explorer, and the Edge, featuring upgrades running the gamut … Read more
Today, a Ford press release crossed my desk with an interesting tidbit about the sales figures for its new Ford Fiesta. It turns out that the majority of buyers have chosen the five-door hatchback body style over the more conventional four-door model. Apparently, someone at Ford thought this was newsworthy, but for me, it was sort of a no-brainer: the five-door was always the better car in my eyes. But that got me to thinking, "What is it with Americans and hatchbacks?"
We're big fans of hatchbacks here at CNET Car Tech, particularly those of the hot … Read more
The 2011 Ford Fiesta is shaping up to be one of the most tech-savvy vehicles in its class. When we reviewed the compact car, we came away impressed with its Sync-based suite of cabin technologies and how well it integrated voice command, navigation, digital audio sources, and integration with iOS devices. So when Ford releases an iPad app for the Fiesta, we expect to see some cool features. Instead, the Ford Fiesta app for iPad released today is little more than a really good-looking digital brochure.
We're not trying to say that promo-ware apps are a bad thing. This … Read more
