Coming to Feedly reader: Speed, search, Windows 8 support

Feedly, the feed reader whose developers are trying to pick up where Google Reader left off, announced Monday that the service will get faster, work on Windows 8, and function without a browser extension.

The Web service, also available as an app for iOS and Android, lets people read Web sites via their RSS and Atom feeds. It's a technology that's popular among those with voracious information appetites, but it hasn't made it to the mainstream. TiVo updates iPad app with feeds on 'What to Watch Now'

TiVo's iPad app is already known for being quite in-depth with a remote control, ways to schedule recordings, and program guides, but the company announced Wednesday that it's rolling out yet another significant feature -- content "feeds."

Starting Thursday, with an app update, users will see a revamp of the TiVo app dubbed "What to Watch Now." This feature has six content feeds that are categorized by genre; the feeds are filled with tailored recommendations based on users' preferences and geographic location.

Facebook is updating its News Feed for iPads, promising the bigger photos and more prominently displayed content that the social network has already launched on the desktop version of Facebook.

The update for the iPad app will be available for download in the iTunes store later today, according to Facebook.
