The kitchen is one of the most upgradable rooms of the house, and Cuisinart would love for you to consider upgrading your toaster oven. The company's top offering, the sleek CSO-300 Combo Steam + Convection Oven, promises to bring the power of steam to your countertop, transforming your standard toaster oven into a more multidimensional cooking contraption. But that expanded functionality comes at a price -- $299, to be exact. Outdoor cooking doesn't always have to be about making a big fire. While the attraction to flame will always hold a certain allure, the flip side to fire-roasted cooking is that fire needs attention. So we grill when we can, but for many, rental and space concerns mean having to go elsewhere to get their grill on.

However, in this debate it's not only about who has the better ribs, or what region makes the best pulled-pork sandwich, but what the definition of barbecue even is. Purists will say that unless it is slow-cooked over low heat, with the requisite amount of smoke, it does not qualify as barbecue. They cringe when they hear people say they are going to a backyard barbecue, knowing full well that the main fare will be hamburgers and hot dogs--not that there's anything wrong with that; it's just … Read more
