Twitter shuffles top execs, names new COO and CFO

Twitter CEO Dick Costolo confirmed via tweet today that the massive social network is now being headed by a new chief operating officer and chief financial officer.

Ali Rowghani moves into the COO position from his previous post of CFO at Twitter. Rowghani has been with the social network since 2010, when he joined the company after serving as CFO for the Disney-owned Pixar Animation Studios. According to AllThingsD, Rowghani is known for multi-tasking at the social network and contributing to Twitter's Promoted Suite of ad products.

Iran's supreme leader joins Great Satan's No. 1 social network

Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, also known as Iran's Supreme Leader, is turning into quite the social butterfly, so to speak. Over the summer, Khamenei joined Instagram, and now it appears Iran's most powerful person is on Facebook as well.

The page went live December 13 and so far has been liked by nearly 5,000 users. Hat tip to Brian Fung at the Atlantic for the pointer.

Alibaba OS-powered handset launching this month

Another mobile operating system will be launching in China this month.

Dubbed Aliyun OS, the operating system has been developed by Alibaba division AliCloud. According to the company, the mobile operating system will launch in the Chinese market on the K-Touch Cloud-Smart Phone W700 by the end of this month. Hangzhou, China-based Alibaba did not say exactly when the device will launch or how much it will cost.

Partovi brothers finally leave MySpace (the internal memos)

Well-known tech entrepreneurs and twin brothers Ali and Hadi Partovi (pictured, left to right) are leaving MySpace, in a high-profile departure for the struggling social-networking company.

Internal memos about the executive change (which you can see below), were sent around to staff Tuesday afternoon, said sources.

iLike's download store debuts

Social-networking service iLike opened a music download store on Friday, and has begun selling MP3s from all the major music labels.

On Wednesday, CNET News reported that iLike would soon open a store and offer song downloads from at least three of the major labels. The site actually is selling music from all four big record companies: Universal Music Group, Sony Music Entertainment, Warner Music Group, and EMI.

The prices are comparable with those found at iTunes and Amazon. Songs range in price from 89 cents to $1.29.
