A&E brings full-length episodes to iPhone -- for free

Apple iPhone owners can now stream full episodes of popular A&E shows.

The network updated its iOS application this week, allowing iPhone owners to watch everything from "Duck Dynasty" to "Storage Wars" to "The First 48." A&E's other networks, Lifetime and The History Channel, have also received updates supporting the iPhone.

'Dance Moms,' other A&E shows waltz onto Amazon Prime

People seeking their favorite A&E shows -- like "Storage Wars" or "Dance Moms" -- can now watch them via Amazon's video streaming service.

The Web giant today said it has reached a content licensing agreement with A+E Networks, which owns the A&E, Bio, History, and Lifetime channels. Under the agreement, prior seasons of popular shows will be added to Amazon's Prime Instant Video service.

A&E launches iPad apps with free access to full episodes

Fans of such shows as "Swamp People," "Storage Wars," and "Monster In-Laws" can now catch full episodes for free via their iPads.

A+E Networks, the company behind these series and more, unveiled three iPad apps yesterday: one for A&E shows, another for History shows, and a third for Lifetime shows and movies.

Viewers will be able to catch all episodes from the current seasons of various shows, as well as some episodes from previous seasons. Subscribers to Comcast's Xfinity TV will have access to all episodes from previous seasons.

Netflix bids adieu to some A&E reality shows

Shows from the A&E cable channel, such as "Ice Road Truckers," "Hoarders" and "Storage Wars" will no longer appear on Netflix's streaming video service.

A licensing agreement for about 40 A&E shows expired last week and the shows were removed from the site, Variety reported. At the same time that Netflix is doubling down on scripted television serials, the Web's top video-subscription service seems to be pulling back on unscripted reality shows.

Linden Lab buys two commerce start-ups

Linden Lab, the parent company of virtual world Second Life, has quietly snapped up two companies that had built e-commerce marketplaces on its platform. The two start-ups, Xstreet SL and OnRez, will be combined into the "Xstreet SL platform," a sort of Craigslist-eBay hybrid for the trade of Second Life virtual goods.

Financial terms of the deals were not disclosed.
