Color-change jeans lose their blues with heat

New for spring, jeans maker Naked & Famous is rolling out color-changing pants made with thermochromic dyes. A molecule inside the dyestuff reacts to heat, changing colors depending on how steamy hot or frigid cold you are. The colors fade between blue and white.

The biggest concern with color-change jeans is how the color-changing properties might highlight certain assets you might not necessarily want to bring attention to. You might remember Hypercolor shirts, a fashion fright that boomed in the early 1990s. They had a special way of showing off just how steamy your armpits were. However, Naked & Famous is trying to reassure us by saying, "Don't worry, the jeans change colors all over and not just in your 'happy areas.'"… Read more

Street View catches couple in throes of passion. Or does it?

Sometimes passion just overtakes you.

It's going 110 mph in the outside lane and suddenly all you want to do is take your lover in your arms and express your feelings as fully and openly as you can.

Perhaps that's what happened to a couple in the changing room of the Krakatoa extreme sports store in Briancon, France.… Read more

Football coach resigns after posting nude Facebook photo

Pride in one's body can sometimes come before a fall in one's status.

This is something being possibly experienced by high school football coach Paul Withee. As WMTV in Maine undresses it, Withee, coach at South Paris Comprehensive High School, was keen to send his girlfriend a picture of himself.

He chose as his medium Facebook, not always the safest of options.

Perhaps Withee wasn't entirely sure of the privacy settings, something in which he would not be alone. For the picture ended up being visible to all of his friends. One of them happened to be … Read more

Clothing site features naked man in children's ad

The uptight can sometimes not understand the liberal.

Some feel that's why some Americans don't understand the French. Yet who can possibly understand how it was that the French clothing retailer La Redoute managed not to notice a naked man in an ad featuring children?

The way the BBC exposes it, the picture was there for all to see for almost a day before someone realized that there, in the water behind the happy little kids, was a happy old chap, naked as the day is long.

Because most people in the world have nothing better to do … Read more

Google Street View's naked lady

It is well accepted that, if there were commercial gain involved, Google might not be averse to peering inside the most intimate parts of your life.

However, sometimes the company manages to cast its gaze without even realizing just how close to you it is.

I am sure some will be grateful to the always generous Smoking Gun for leading them (in a SFW way) to a street in Miami, where a woman is standing outside her front door naked. (The story of these interesting pixels was originally broken by the Random Pixels blog)

Oh, of course it's on … Read more

Researchers sequence cancer-resistant rodent's DNA

You wouldn't know it by looking at it, but the naked mole-rat has a few things to teach the animal world. It has fascinated researchers since it was discovered a few years ago that the rodents can live for 30 years, compared to the mouse's average life span of four.

So after launching an online database that details the lives and histories of more than 4,000 animal species, a consortium of researchers from around the world set out to sequence the genome of the naked mole-rate--which is native to the deserts of East Africa.

Behold, a naked gaming party YouTube video

I have a feeling that there will be more than one reader of these pages who will be gaming in the nude this weekend.

It is not merely that the weather has warmed up a little. It is a lifestyle choice.

I can imagine that clutching one's console wearing nothing in which it can get snagged is one of the more liberating experiences for the tense and the troubled.

So when I discovered that there were naked gaming parties in New York City, I thought to myself: Where else? Here is a place where everyone wants to expose their … Read more

The 404 717: Where we don't call you Shirley (podcast)

Before we get into today's Cyber Monday madness, we're taking a moment to pay tribute to Leslie Nielsen, who passed away yesterday at age 84 from pneumonia complications. His repertoire includes some of our favorites, like the "Naked Gun" series and of course "Airplane"--RIP to one of the most influential comedians of our time.

Today is Cyber Monday, the magical post-Thanksgiving day when online stores slash their virtual prices to give shoppers a hint of what happened in person on Black Friday.

According to Coremetrics, online sales on Black Friday went up 15.9 percent from last year, thanks to social-networking Web sites spreading the instant word on shopping tips and real-time inventory updates. The company also noticed a rise in "surgical shopping," with people focusing on specific products instead of randomly browsing.

Check out CNET's Cyber Monday Gift Guide to stay updated on today's best deals, including $89 Amazon Kindle e-Readers, console and computer games starting at 90 cents, and more.

Wilson also surprises us with a 4Loko that he picked up this morning for breakfast. The FDA actually banned all eight flavors as of this week after several kids died from alcohol poisoning, also called the Four Loko "aftereffects." Think we're kidding? Check out what happens to the dude who goes on a 24-hour Four Loko Diet.

Plenty of voice mails to play today, with special thanks to Blake Stevenson for making us this poster featuring MC TerrorByte and the Yu Tang Clan! Blake became the unofficial 404 artist after winning our 404 logo competition, so be sure to add him on Twitter and fan him up on Facebook!

An AT&T customer service horror story

What came first: the bad customer service or the hard-to-find deal?

I ask this for a reason: After more than three years of paying for AT&T phone service solely for the purpose of getting DSL, I have come to learn that the phone service is completely unnecessary. My aggravating (and embarrassing) path to that knowledge should serve as a lesson for companies in how not to do customer service if you want to retain your customers. It's also a valuable lesson for consumers, who have to stay vigilant in order to get the deal that's right … Read more

Mom rails at Google over Street View pic of naked toddler

This is not quite the story of the horse-boy, more one of the boy whose picture made his mother hoarse.

According to the Manchester Evening News, Claire Rowlands, of Greater Manchester, U.K., happened to be on Google Street View when she happened upon an image of her 3-year-old son in his grandmother's garden. The boy was only wearing his shoes.

"I just felt sick to my stomach when I saw the naked picture of Louis on the Internet. I'm angry, disgusted and upset about it - they should be checking every image before it goes up,&… Read more
