Oxford making scientific search for Yeti, Nessie

There are those who believe that Yetis exist, most especially Georgians.

All too often when these claims are investigated, though, they turn up a gorilla costume and a couple of rogues.

However, someone is finally bringing scientific credibility to the search not only for Yetis, but also the Loch Ness Monster and, for all I know, unicorns.

Oxford University's Wolfson College has decided to invite every human being in the world to send in samples of animals that appear to be something of a mystery. … Read more

YouTube plays host to Canadian Loch Ness Monster

We here at CNET love a good monster sighting almost as much as we love a good iPhone 5 rumor.

Earlier this year, a 24-year-old kayaker by the name of Tom Pickles used his cell phone cam to snap what he claimed was a picture of "Bownessie," the lesser-known, English cousin of Scotland's headline-hogging Loch Ness Monster.

Now a Canadian man has video that he says could prove the existence of "Ogopogo," another member of (Loch) Nessie's ever-larger extended family of marine mischief makers.… Read more

Cell phone cam nabs Loch Ness Monster's cousin

editor's notebook You'd think with all the cell phone cameras out there snapping away at every inch of the planet, quaint little mysteries like Bigfoot and the Loch Ness Monster would be cleared up in a, um, flash.

Well, perhaps that'll turn out to be the case. According to the U.K.'s Telegraph newspaper, a kayaking IT professional recently used his mobile device to grab a photo of "Bownessie," the less-famous, English cousin of Scotland's spotlight-hogging Loch Ness Monster. The grainy snap shows four humplike shapes breaking the surface of a misty-looking body … Read more

Crave giveaway: Killer 2100 NIC gaming card

OK, we're getting geeky this week and serving up Bigfoot Networks' Killer 2100 network interface card (NIC) for online gaming that Bigfoot touts as the "fastest Gigabit NIC on the planet for gamers."

The Killer 2100 is built around Bigfoot's Game Networking DNA technology, which includes a dedicated network processor (NPU), Advanced Game Detect, Windows stack bypass, Visual Bandwidth Control, and other optimizations to help reduce stuttering, freezing, and other symptoms associated with that dreaded thing we call lag. In other words, if you are hardcore gamer, the Killer 2100 will help give you that little … Read more

Killer 2100 network gaming card: No more excuses

I don't know about other gamers, but whenever I lose in an online game, which is more often than I want to admit, I immediately look for excuses. And I have just found another one: not having the Killer 2100 network interface card .

The card was announced Tuesday by Bigfoot Networks, maker of the Killer Xeno network card, which was released a year ago.

According to the company, the Killer 2100 combines speed, intelligence, and control demanded by gamers while significantly reducing latency. It also comes with software that lets users maximize the control of the card's functionality … Read more

Better pwning with Killer Xeno network card

Not to brag, but I have a great gaming rig--a super fast CPU and GPU, and a big 30-inch LCD. I even have a customized mouse and keyboard. I often buy the collector's editions of games. I'm serious, and yet, more often that not, I get my behind handed to me in WoW PvP and any games that require me to kill my opponent.

Finally, I found out the reason: my computer doesn't have a Killer Xeno network card.

On Monday, Bigfoot Networks, a company that I recently heard of that makes special network cards for gamers, launched its upgraded voice-chat-enabled network interface card for online gamers, called Killer Xeno Ultra.

Basically, this is a gigabit network card that comes with many added functions designed especially for online game playing, including a feature called Killer Xeno voice-chat acceleration technology.

The technology addresses the feature most requested by gamers, a "hiccup-free" voice experience for online games. The Killer Xeno network card provides this.… Read more

Famous naturalist: Evidence of Bigfoot 'convincing'

It seems so long ago that a couple of chancers from the state of Georgia declared that they had found Bigfoot. And it seems almost as long ago that it was discovered that they had merely purloined a gorilla suit and stuck it in a freezer.

However, one of the most renowned naturalists in the world, Sir David Attenborough, said this weekend that he still believes it might be out there.

Appearing with British talk show host Jonathan Ross, Sir David, the man whose whispering voice has never disturbed even the most skittish bird, said, "I'm baffled by … Read more

Yeti footprints found by (alleged) scientist

In uncertain times like these, we are desperate to turn myth into reality.

Sex with Madonna really isn't all it's cracked up to be, according to those gossiping over her divorce. And there really are supranatural creatures out there that have evaded captivity, according to many explorers, scientists, and teenagers.

So if you're not persuaded that a Creepy Gnome really is terrorizing Northern Argentina, or that Bigfoot will ever be found (and certainly not by a couple of mendacious hicks) then perhaps you will believe Yoshiteru Takahashi.

Takahashi has caused a great stir over the last couple … Read more

Why Government should investigate "Little Bigfoot" sightings

Many people have barely recovered from the recent revelation that the alleged Bigfoot was really BigRubberfoot.

However, one is duty-bound to report that there has been another sighting of an equally disturbing meta-human phenomenon- the Creepy Gnome.

The Creepy Gnome first materialized in March. Teenagers who were hanging out in General Guemes, in the Argentinian province of Salta, used their cellphones to capture a peculiar short creature with a pointed head and a strange sideways gait. (Haunting for Preparation H users, at least.)

At the time, Jose Alvarez, who shot the film, said: "We looked to one side and … Read more

Bigfoot site stuns the world: It was a hoax

It was all so exciting while it lasted.

But now one has to lie down, shaking with shock, on discovering that the supposed Bigfoot discovery was, indeed, a gorilla suit in a freezer.

The Web site Searchingforbigfoot.com, owned by Bigfoot hunter Tom Biscardi, on Tuesday carried the words of Steve Kulls, who is apparently the executive director of something called Squatchdetective.com. Kulls was invited to be a witness to the thawing of the captured cadaver.

"We contacted Mr. Biscardi who gave us permission to begin an expedited melting process. We set up a salamander heater to heat … Read more
