U.S. Cellular to offer BlackBerry Torch 9850, too

Sprint customers won't be the only ones to get their hands on the RIM BlackBerry Torch 9850, as U.S. Cellular revealed today that the all-touch-screen BlackBerry will be available starting August 26 for $199.99 with a purchase of a data plan and after a $100 mail-in rebate.

The Torch 9850 has a 3.7-inch, an 800x480-pixel touch screen, a 1.2GHz processor, and a 5-megapixel camera with 720p HD video capture. It's also running the latest BlackBerry OS 7 software, so you'll get such enhancements as better graphics, faster Web browser, and BBM 6.

Verizon and Sprint reveal BlackBerry 7 handset pricing; to launch in August

Verizon Wireless announced today that the Bold 9930 will be available for $249.99 after a two-year customer agreement. The phone will be initially offered online starting today, and in stores starting August 25.

Hours later, and Sprint followed suit with a similar announcement that its version of the Bold 9930 will also be priced at $249.99 after a two-year agreement. Sprint also announced it will be selling the BlackBerry Torch 9850 for $149.99 after the usual two-year contract. It seems August 21 might turn out to be a pretty busy day for Sprint. Not only is the carrier releasing the Samsung Conquer 4G that day, it might be also be launching the BlackBerry Bold 9930 and the BlackBerry Torch 9850, according to a leaked document spotted on SprintFeed. AMD quad-core chip hits compatibility snag

Update: Circuit board makers using Advanced Micro Devices' high-end quad-core Phenom chips claim that there are compatibility issues with select boards. This comes as the chipmaker struggles to churn out processors that are competitive with Intel's offerings.

This issue was reported Monday at the Web site HKEPC.

AMD confirmed Monday that some motherboard suppliers are mismatching high-end quad-core Phenom processors with a lower-end chipset. (The motherboard is the main circuit board in a PC. The chipset allows the processor to interact with other components, among other functions.)
