Boeing hosts Paris Air Show preview

In two days the annual Paris Air Show opens at Le Bourget Airport just outside the French capital. Aviation geeks of all stripes know the event is the biggest and best air show in the world, with just about every airplane you can imagine. And as it has always done, Boeing will be making the flight from Seattle to Paris to show off its newest aircraft, like the 747-8 and the 787 Dreamliner. There, the company will face off with rival Airbus and a number of smaller manufacturers like Bombardier and Embraer.

Samsung goes square with the Propel

Samsung announced a new cell phone Tuesday that appears to take aim at the recently announced LG Lotus for Sprint and the Verizon Wireless Blitz. The Samsung Propel SGH-A767, which is bound for AT&T later this month, is a slider phone with a square shape that hides a full QWERTY keyboard. This isn't a true smartphone, so there's no Outlook Exchange support, but you can text and IM on the Propel to your heart's content. Web-based POP3 e-mail support will be available as well.

American Airlines riding Wi-Fi wave

We asked and, with any luck, we shall receive. A few weeks back we were bemoaning the lack of Wi-Fi aboard U.S. airlines after finding that Qantas had plans for on-board wireless Internet access. But American Airlines appears to be on the same flight path, teaming with AirCell to test broadband services next year on the carrier's Boeing 767-200 planes.
