Buyers considering a BMW 5-series, Mercedes-Benz E-Class, or even a Tesla Model S would do well to look at the 2014 Lexus GS 450h. The BMW has its handling, the Mercedes-Benz nearly drives itself, and the Tesla is the best electric car on the market. Against all that, the GS 450h has a no-nonsense character.
The GS 450h is a luxury car for the driver who doesn't want to spend a lot of time thinking about his car.
The unobtrusive exterior design supports this mission. Although Lexus added some unique styling cues in the car's last update, such … Read more
It may not be quite as green as the Tesla Model S, but I was gratified to see the range-o-meter showing over 500 miles as I cruised the Lexus GS 450h up and down California freeways. And I was surprised how well it got down and dirty on some curvy mountain roads.
The GS 450h manages to show how technology can make a car get decent fuel economy while also turning in great driving performance. It's no track-day car, but Lexus' new focus on handling lets it eat up the turns. Thank you, adaptive-suspension technology.Lexus' hybrid system remains … Read more
Every year at the Western Automotive Journalists' annual Media Days at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca, there's at least one large sedan that surprises me with its on-track poise. Last year, that car was the Acura TL SH-AWD, but this year it was the 2013 Lexus GS 350 F-Sport that left me scratching my head.2013 GS 350 F-Sport

I'm still running through notes I made when visiting the 52nd Annual International Auto Show here in my current residence of San Francisco, California regarding cars and topics to feature here in this blog. I'm still rolling-rolling-rolling like Limp Bizkit (did I spell that right?) and about to get all environmental with a video about one of the several hybrids I saw at the 2009 IAS, the 2010 Lexus RX450h.
The RX450h isn't Lexus's first foray into the mid-sized hybrid game and really it isn't all that different cosmetically from the outgoing RX400h. Likewise, based … Read more
We were just commenting yesterday, as we piloted our 2009 Lexus RX 400h down California's HWY 5, that the crossover SUV was getting a bit long in the tooth. Starting February 2009, that will no longer be the case because the new 2010 RX 350 will be available, followed shortly by the RX 450h hybrid.
Lexus unveiled the updated RXs at the 2008 Los Angeles Auto Show. The new vehicles feature updated powertrains, new designs, and a much needed cabin tech refresh.
At the center of the cabin tech experience is the hard-drive-based navigation system with a new "… Read more
Lexus invited us to test drive its entire lineup of Hybrid vehicles. Along the way, we got a peek at how luxury living and sustainable living can go hand in hand.
We took delivery of the Lexus GS450h in Berkeley, Calif. This was to be the first of the three Lexus hybrids we'd be driving over the weekend. Using the Lexus' crisp and colorful touch screen and GPS navigation, we selected our first location--San Francisco's Fairmont Hotel--and took the GS for a spin.Check out the photos of the Lexus Hybrid Living Tour.
