Benji Bananas 1.6 Review

If there is such a thing as a textbook successful mobile game, this one would be it. Benji Bananas has a cute mascot, addictive gameplay and a physics engine that is easy to figure out but difficult to master. Sounds like any other games you know? This game seems so tailor-made for superstardom that it's a wonder the app hasn't already soared to the top of the charts. It would definitely be worthy of its place if it did.

To rule the day in this app you need to swing from vine to vine collecting bananas in a … Read more

Review: Take notes with EvoNotes Pro

Note-taking is ideal on an iPad or iPhone. It's mobile, it's wireless, and it's in your hands. But there are some note-taking apps that pull it off, and others that fall flat. EvoNotes Pro is of the latter camp, and then some. One of the messiest, note-taking apps on the App Store, EvoNotes is filled with convoluted menus, confusing interface design, and features that only occasionally work as you expect.

The first screen you see is a newsstand-style bookshelf. On it is a book of tool tips (and a help function?) that does not open when you … Read more

Review: Add instant messenger capabilities to Twitter with TwitChat Messenger

There are many Twitter clients and apps that promise to enhance the Twitter navigation and communication process. However, not all of them follow through, and others are lacking in key areas. TwitChat Messenger manages to not only augment the core Twitter experience, but also add additional features in a robust, easy-to-use package, all for free, making it one of the best third-party Twitter apps on the App Store today.

The premise of TwitChat Messenger is that instead of the open forum that Twitter normally is, you can use it as an instant messenger, complete with notifications and user invites via … Read more

Homebase - Facebook Home Theme 1.6 Review

If you're bummed out that your phone can't use Facebook Home, this app promises to help. Homebase - Facebook Home Theme claims to give you the lock screen and features you'll see on Facebook Home. Sadly, what it actually delivers is a buggy lock screen that doesn't even lock your phone -- or mimic Facebook Home.

Though this app claims to be a Facebook Home Theme lock screen, it doesn't seem to be. In fact, it doesn't seem to be a lock screen at all. Instead of locking your phone, Homebase shows up after … Read more

iTunes to Android Wireless 1.6 Review

One of the big perks of using an iPhone is wireless syncing from iTunes. iTunes to Android Wireless brings the same effect to your Android phone, but it can be a huge pain to set up. Once you have it working properly, you have to pay to make the most of the app. You're better off breaking out the USB cable and syncing things yourself.

This app actually calls itself Synctunes once you've downloaded it. It requires an app on your computer and iTunes to work properly, too. Since most of the work is done on your computer, … Read more

Collage Maker 1.6 Review

Combining all of your smartphone's photos usually takes plenty of effort and editing know-how. Collage Maker makes it relatively seamless, but not without plenty of sacrifices. This app offers lots of layouts for you to use for collages, but it offers just as many ads and even annoying setting changes.

Before you can start making collages, the program asks you to accept its terms and conditions. These include loading your screen with ads, changing your default search engine, and slamming an ad page on your default browser. There are plenty of ways to get around these settings, but it … Read more

Llama Alarm Clock Review

An alarm is the one feature sorely missing from Windows' built-in clock. Llama Alarm Clock adds a neat alarm clock to your computer that works well, but suffers from being way too simple.

For being a beefy 6MB download, this widget is certainly lacking in the features department. There's no installation needed, as the widget performs its function once clicked. It comes with only two alarm noises, though you can add your own to the mix. Llama Alarm Clock leeches off of the Windows clock, but you can't change time zones or create multiple clocks. The only thing … Read more

Wake up to a pleasant voice with The Talking Alarm

The built-in alarm clock on the iPhone is a companion to millions of people who have long since ditched their plug-in alarm clocks. Simple, easy to use, and very effective at making large volumes of noise, the iPhone is a natural alarm device. But it is limited in its functionality. For those interested in a more classic look or an alternative to loud, grating noises, The Talking Alarm is a breath of fresh air. With a classic, green LED display design and a number of voices to choose from, it is an effective, fun-to-use alarm that offers a great alternative … Read more

It had to come to this, didn't it? You can't trust yourself to stay away from Facebook long enough to get any work done before lunch. And don't get us started on YouTube. Cat Piano Free offers a few good laughs

We'll cut right to the chase: Cat Piano Free, as its name implies, lets you press piano keys on your iPhone that each have a different kitten meow. We're not really sure what the point of the app is, other than to freak out your cat if you have one.

Cat Piano Free starts off with a pop-up ad for other games, but tapping the X in the right-hand corner gets rid of it. Beyond that, it's just a section of piano keys. We have to admit that the cat sounds are pretty realistic; we pressed a … Read more
