Belkin announced today that it has completed the acquisition of Linksys from Cisco.
The privately held networking vendor unveiled its interest in Linsys in late January, and now the deal is complete. This means Linksys' technologies, including its routers and the Smart Wi-Fi portfolio and services, will be managed and maintained by Belkin, but as a separate brand and product portfolio.
This also means that Cisco Connect Cloud, with which users can manage and control control home networks powered by a Smart Wi-Fi router via the Internet, will also be branded without Cisco in its name.

SAN JOSE, Calif.--The value at stake for the "Internet of Everything" is $14.4 trillion that businesses and customers can capture in the next decade, according to Cisco.

Laptop hard drive speeds aren't tied strictly to revolutions per minute anymore, according to Seagate.
Seagate is abandoning 2.5-inch 7200rpm magnetic mobile hard drives for hybrids that have slower-rated RPMs but integrate large solid-state drive (SSD) caches, the company said today in a statement provided to CNET.
"Seagate's innovation in the area of Solid State Hybrid Drives (SSHD) technology provides a much faster overall performance platform than 7200 RPM based hard drives," the company said.

Oracle said today that it has agreed to buy Acme Packet for $1.7 billion.
Acme Packet sells voice and data products and services used across IP networks. Its customers range from telecommunications providers to large enterprises and include 90 of the world's top 100 communications firms, according to Oracle.
