As of Wednesday, October 30, AT&T will dole out a free 7-inch Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 tablet to anyone who buys a Samsung Galaxy S4, Galaxy S4 Active, Galaxy Note 3, or Galaxy Note 2. Apple shipped enough iPads last quarter to continue its reign as the No. 1 tablet vendor.
For the third quarter, Apple shipped 14.25 million iPads, giving it a market share of 29.7 percent, research firm IHS said on Wednesday. Those numbers were down from the second quarter when shipments totaled 14.62 million and market share rang in at 33.5 percent.

According to a new study released by Nielsen on Tuesday, 70 percent of teens aged 13 to 17 now use smartphones, and 79 percent of young adults between the ages of 18 and 24 own a smartphone. According to benchmarking specialist AnTuTu, the plus-size slate could boast an impressive set of hardware specifications, including a quad-core 2.3GHz Snapdragon 800 processor with 3GB RAM.

Samsung shipped a record 120 million phones last quarter, beating Nokia, Apple, and LG combined, Strategy Analytics said Tuesday.
The quarter showed a 7 percent jump in overall global shipments from a year ago and gave Samsung a 29 percent slice of the mobile phone market. Strategy Analytics attributed the gain to strong demand for Samsung's Note 3 phablet and mass market devices, such as the Galaxy Y.
In second place, Nokia bit off 15.5 percent of the worldwide mobile phone market, followed by Apple with 8 percent and LG with 4.4 percent.

The curved display on Samsung's Galaxy Round offers distinct advantages in reducing reflections and the high glossiness of flat displays, according to a report out Tuesday.

Apple is close to awarding at least one company with a contract to supply displays for its long-rumored iWatch, according to a new report.
LG Display is close to signing a deal with Apple to provide flexible organic light-emitting diode panels (OLED) for its iWatch smartwatch, Korea Herald reported on Tuesday, citing people who claim to have knowledge of the negotiations.
