The five most uncomfortable rides

A great car can be fast, comfortable, or cheap, but never all three. As a lover of speed and cheap thrills, I often find myself behind the wheel of vehicles lacking in the comfort department.

But what qualifies a car as uncomfortable? Sometimes it's a bone-rattling sport suspension or oddly bolstered seats. Other times, it's a jerky, quick-shifting transmission.

We've rounded up the five most uncomfortable cars to pass through the CNET Garage.

See our five picks for most uncomfortable rides.

Electric cars in a pine forest, in downtown Detroit

At the 2009 Detroit auto show, you will be greeted by a tranquil surprise if you venture below the main hall down to the lower level Michigan Hall--silently running cars drive along a curving road running through a pine forest. Yes, you are still inside, and much warmer than if you were out in Michigan's winter. The Michigan Economic Development Corporation set up this forest scene, inviting car companies to show off cars that can run on electricity. Visitors will be able to take a ride in cars such as the Ford Fusion Hybrid, Dodge Durango Hybrid, Cadillac Escalade … Read more

Six cars for your iPod

The days of keeping a library of tapes or CDs in your car are over. You walk around with an MP3 player, so why shouldn't you be able to use it in your car? With the economy the way it is, consumers aren't completely shying away from buying new TVs, but they're on tight budgets and appear to be predominantly interested in screen sizes 52 inches or smaller. The big problem with going bigger is that you jump into a whole new price class when you start looking at the Panasonic 58-inch plasma--and it gets worse when you check out Pioneer's 60-incher.

The exception to all this is DLP-based rear-projection HDTVs, where Samsung … Read more

Video: World's fastest donuts

By world's fastest donuts, we don't mean delicious pastries moving at a high rate of speed. We're referring to this video of Russ Swift's Guiness World Record for spinning his Lancer Evolution through ten 360 degree turns in just over 16 seconds.

If the name Russ Swift sounds familiar, it should. He's also got records for the tightest/fastest parallel park and quickest J-turn, which are also shown in the the clip below.
