Buzz Out Loud 1438: Microsoft and the crushing anvils of irony (Podcast)

Microsoft tries to poke the European antitrust bear and point them in the direction of Google--ok, guys. Just, you know, beware of karma. Also, Google cracks down on the Android chaos (and hopefully the crapware, too), the +1 button points to, yet again, the all-consuming importance of recommendations, and Samsung did not--I repeat, did NOT--install keylogger software on its laptops. Plus, introducing our new app, Smart Fart. (Sigh.) --Molly

Rebecca Black passes Bieber as YouTube's most hated video

Sometimes, you find things just when you're not looking for them.

I was amused for at least five or six seconds by the revelation that Justin Bieber's "Baby" was the most disliked video on YouTube--yes, more than 1 million people with nothing better to do than register their hate--when I discovered that Rebecca Black had almost caught her hero.

Despite only being on YouTube for six weeks, the 13-year-old who achieved fame beyond her wildest musings had already registered the magic 1 million.

And then she was gone.

Suddenly, if I tried to click on her … Read more

Amazon's cloud risks war with labels, studios

Amazon shot past Apple and Google into the cloud and generated a lot of buzz by launching a new service last night that lets people store their digital media on the company's servers.

What the company didn't do was license the rights to do this from the major Hollywood film studios and top record companies. Certainly, many from the film and music camps believe that without obtaining the proper permission, Amazon's new service violates their legal rights, multiple sources from the entertainment sector told CNET.

Cloud Drive, announced late Monday, is a hard-drive backup service accessible via … Read more

Buzz Out Loud 1436: Think before you Color (Podcast)

We're thrilled about Amazon's new Cloud Drive and Cloud Player, but the record labels might not be -- so good for them for potentially forcing that anti-consumer claptrap out into the open. Also, we might complain a lot about our Internet issues, but at least we don't live in Canada. Plus, the Color hack you knew was coming, and our official advice: don't use it. Plus, can the hypnotizing baby blues of Jack Dorsey turn the Twitter ship around? We'll see. --Molly
