The question at hand with LG's WT6001HV Smart ThinQ Washer: Just how smart is it? On paper, it appears to stack up pretty evenly with its nearest rivals, the Samsung WF457 and the Whirlpool WFL98HEBU. LG's washer has a 7-inch LCD touchscreen, while Samsung's has an 8-inch LCD touchscreen. LG boasts a sanitizing cycle, as does Whirlpool. The Smart ThinQ offers smartphone controls and remote alerts - so do both the Samsung and the Whirlpool. All three are similarly priced, with the Smart ThinQ coming in at $1,599, compared with $1,499 for the Samsung and $… Read more
This Smart ThinQ LFX31995ST marks LG's smart refrigerator debut, this model being the only fridge in LG's connected, app-driven Smart ThinQ line. From our preliminary, software-focused view, LG has made a confident first step into the world of the Internet-connected fridge.
LG released this model in December 2012 and gave it a price tag of $3,499.99. Like Samsung and other vendors, LG is clearly targeting high-end shoppers here. We'll have a full review of this refrigerator as we continue to develop our appliance testing methods, but here's what we know after some hands-on time.… Read more
When people think about robot vacuums, the first word that probably comes to mind is "Roomba," the signature offering from Massachusetts manufacturer iRobot. Take a look at today's market, though, and you'll find a variety of robot vacuums to choose from, all of which would love to make a run at the Roomba's robo-reign over the living room. One particularly worthy competitor is the Neato XV Signature Pro, the latest model from a smallish, California-based manufacturer called Neato Robotics.
The first, most obvious contrast between the Neato and other robot vacuums we reviewed is the … Read more
LG's newest robot vacuum, the Hom-Bot Square (pronounced "Home Bot"), sets itself apart from the competition by offering a wide array of customizable cleaning modes designed to put you in control of the cleaning process. Like most robot vacuums, you can set it and forget it if you like, letting it run automatically on the default settings. To really get the most out of it, you'll want to experiment with the different cleaning modes. This isn't to say that the Hom-Bot is high-maintenance, but it's definitely better suited for users who want to take … Read more

Legend has it that an NFL player practicing in Super Bowl week heard one of his coaches shriek the cliche: "There is no tomorrow!"
The player replied: "Well, if there's no tomorrow, I'm not staying here." He then walked off.
The question, therefore, is what you would do if you were in a job interview and you realized the world was about to end.
The Chilean arm of LG decided to test this hypothesis, while at the same time showing off its no-doubt marvelous 84-inch Ultra HD TV.
The next generation of Nexus smartphone may have just been spotted loitering the virtual halls of the FCC.
Details found in the federal database show a 4.96-inch display and a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor. Digging deeper, the D820 is found to be running a version of software called "aosp_hammerhead-userdebugKyeLimePieFACTORYeng.sangjoon84.lee.20130618.015154 [sic]."
Spelling error aside, the fact that it shows Key Lime Pie indicates … Read more
As if that wasn't enough, the 77-inch monster, shown off at the IFA tech fair in Berlin, has a curved surface.
As well as doubling as a half-pipe, LG reckons the gentle curve "fills the viewer's field of vision more completely than a flat-screen TV." The new model follows in the footsteps of a 55-inch curved model, which was revealed at the start of the year.
The TV … Read more

BERLIN -- If you were holding off on current OLED TVs because they're too curved, LG aims to flatten that objection.
The company has revealed a flat OLED TV, model 55EA8800, at the IFA 2013 show in Berlin this week. The 55-inch TV comes with a painting-esque frame for that "gallery" chic, which you can examine more closely in the slideshow below.
The set should be available in Germany sometime in September, with "other markets to follow." Pricing was not announced.
