Ultraslim Huawei Ascend P1 ICS Android clears the FCC

Remember the Huawei Ascend P1 from CES? Well, it looks like it could be coming to the U.S., thanks to a recent FCC filing.

Its ultrathin -- 0.27 inch thin, no joke -- and stylized white-on-black design is the Ascend P1's beauty that matches the brawn of its dual-core processor, 8-megapixel camera, and a cutting-edge Android Ice Cream Sandwich OS. I haven't been able to give the phone a thorough examination yet, but based on the features list and what we saw in January, I'd go so far as to call it the Huawei superphone … Read more

Best Android ICS smartphones (roundup)

In my view, smartphones are all about the future, and the best handsets are usually the ones with the freshest, slickest mobile technology. Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, Google's latest and greatest operating system though remains frustratingly out of reach unless you own an unlocked Samsung Galaxy Nexus. Even so, the number of phones running Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich software is growing. … Read more

One must wonder why Sony cannot get out of the habit of playing a fragmented and behind-the-curve Android release schedule for its devices.

Finally putting speculation to rest, a Sony representative confirmed with Crave today (and subsequently on Twitter) that Sony tablet owners in "all regions will have Android 4.0 by end of May." And on a related note, a Sony Japan statement announced a May 24 drop date for Android 4.0 landing on both Tablet S and Tablet P devices specifically in that country, perhaps a timeframe we should expect elsewhere.

To recap, see if you can keep up with this: … Read more
