Make a splash in the R2-D2 one-piece swimsuit

A couple of days ago, I posted a blog about an official Lucasfilm Jedi bathrobe I was pretty jazzed about. Following that, one attentive reader, Jonny, sent me this link to a way awesome R2-D2 one-piece swimsuit called Artoo.

It's from Black Milk Clothing, an independent clothing company from Australia that normally specializes in exotic leggings. It was designed by James Lillis, goes for $85, and is made from a Polyester/Lycra blend. We're not sure if it's Lucasfilm-licensed (we're guessing it's not) but it's cool nonetheless.

I mean, if you're into Star … Read more

The 404 630: Where Justin grows up and gets a friggin' suit (podcast)

With Jeff's wedding creeping up sooner than we expected, it's about time that The 404 Podcast discusses exactly what we'll be wearing to the ceremonies. Always the responsible one, Wilson is prepared with his own suit, and Jeff will obviously be wearing the cheapest tux money can rent, but I've somehow made it 26 years without ever buying a suit and I refuse to start now...hopefully Stacie is OK with me wearing this old thing.

And speaking of horrible fashion, this shirt holster for your Apple iPad is proof that tech-fashion is, and will always … Read more

Fashion faux pas

There are people who believe in astrology and people who don't, and even those who do have to admit that sometimes people just make stuff up. Mystic Board seems to specialize in software that does just that, taking popular aspects of New Age spirituality and creating software that's only marginally related. MB Fashion Astrology is but one more example of this.

Like all Mystic Board programs, MB Fashion Astrology's interface is cluttered with ads. The program asks for the user's full first, middle, and last names--which have absolutely no bearing on the results--and the user's … Read more

New e-glasses aim to replace old bifocals

I'm a lucky guy. I wear glasses, and I like wearing them. They're sort of my way of saying, "Screw you, world, I'm an actual nerd!" My glasses are big, they're black, and they make me look so good that I've destroyed all of my mirrors because I just can't stand it. But they're single index, meaning they're not bifocals. Undoubtedly, though, one of these days (probably around the time I hit 40, according to the research), I'll need to upgrade.

But maybe I won't be getting bifocals … Read more

Pillow Tie lets Dad nap away your inheritence

Father's Day is coming up Sunday and I've been trying not to do a "perfect gift for dads and grads!" post of any kind because ubiquitous rhymes make me want to shoot small, cute things in their small, cute faces. But then I came across the Pillow Tie on Geekologie, and it makes me wish I was a dad or a grad so someone would buy me one.

It's an inflatable microfiber/silk-blend necktie that goes for about $20, and that's about all. But that's all it has to be, as a simple … Read more

Gadget fashion--Jasmine's Tech Do's & Don'ts

One of the glorious things about living in such a technologically advanced era is that we've reached a point where gadgets have become so ubiquitous that manufacturers are constantly striving to make them appealing to the individual eye. Clearly, getting your gear in line with your own personal style is key, but finding that happy balance between totally blah and way over-the-top is also important.

When taking the fashion approach to technology, mobile gadgets naturally spring to mind first. Namely because these are the items you have on your person all the time. Of course, style is important in … Read more

Sony gets stylie with new PIIQ headphones

With its fingers in nearly every aspect of the audio economy, Sony's no stranger to the music market. The company has been churning out headphones of all types and sizes for many years now, and it can no doubt count itself as a top seller in this category, which means it must be doing something right.

However, though Sony headphones are patently "not ugly," I don't think it's a brand most people would consider when on the hunt for a superstylish audio set. Certainly, the company's earphones tend to lean more toward understated than … Read more

'Tron' T-shirt glows just like it should

Online apparel store Threadless has a new T-shirt called My Other Ride Is a Light Cycle. Clearly inspired by the retro Disney movie "Tron," it features a glow-in-the-dark print that will make it look like you have a glowing printed circuit board on your body when the lights go off.

This tee is perfect for those who love the old movie and are looking forward to the upcoming sequel, "Tron: Legacy." The shirt is available now online for $20 and will probably go well with the Adidas Adicolor Tron shoes and tracksuit from 2006.

Man purse protocol--Jasmine's Tech Dos & Don'ts

My sixth sense tells me I'm not going to make many friends with this article, but I'm just going to say it: if you carry a bag over or across one shoulder, it's a purse. That means all those messenger bags you fellows are carrying around are man purses. I don't care how big it is: it's still a murse. And I've already earned the ire of one coworker by calling it that (I believe his exact words were: "I'll murse you"), so if you want to bombard my comment section … Read more

eBay runs with designer fashion store

eBay is now in the fashion business.

The online auction company officially launched its Fashion Vault site on Monday where it's teaming up with fashion retailers to offer designer clothes at healthy discounts for short periods of time.

To attract price-conscious customers who crave designer labels, the site will rely on "flash" sales lasting from 48 to 72 hours. Rather than bid for the clothes in a typical eBay auction, interested shoppers will use the Buy Now option. Shipping is thrown in for free.

eBay said it assures that all the items in the Fashion Vault come … Read more
