Play an '80s classic on your iPhone

What more can one say about Tetris? The megapopular classic '80s action puzzle game from Russian programmer Alexey Pajitnov is now available for the iPhone, featuring everything you loved about the original, and some added bonuses to keep the game interesting. The game is crystal-clear with Retina Display support and the simple interface requires only swipes and taps on the screen to move, rotate, and drop pieces on the board. Sometimes the tap-to-rotate and swipe-to-move method can be a little frustrating (it's easy to make mistakes), but we were mostly able to enjoy the classic game on our iPhone … Read more

Apple facing possible $25.6M location suit in Korea

Hot on the heels of Apple's $945 legal settlement to a Korean man over location logging behavior in iOS in June, a new suit in the works reportedly seeking class action aims to bring similar settlements to some 27,800 other individuals.

The Korea Herald reports that law firm Miraelaw plans to file the suit against Apple in Korea later this month, once again claiming that the iPhone violated the country's domestic privacy laws. If those listed on the suit end up with a similar payout to the one provided in June, Apple could be facing an overall … Read more

File unlocker

It's freeware that can unlock files and folders that are locked by system processes or other programs when you receive an Access Denied error message. BackStab for iOS: Assassin's Creed goes Caribbean

From the first moments of its animated opening, which includes an execution, an implied rape, and a graphically slit throat, it's clear that Gameloft's BackStab deserves a stronger rating than "12+." Since when is it OK to expose 12-year-olds to "Frequent/Intense Realistic Violence"?

I guess that's the world we live in. I know parents who let their 8-year-olds watch violent, R-rated movies, which puzzles me to no end. Anyway, if the name alone didn't cue you in to BackStab's modus operandi, now you know. It's an extremely violent game.… Read more

AT&T has to track down $1 billion in data tax case

AT&T may need to knock on a few doors and place a few calls to get back nearly a billion dollars it payed to states and other governments on behalf of its wireless customers. That's one of the requirements of a class-action settlement approved last week over taxes the company is alleged to have levied improperly for wireless data.

Lawyers from Bartimus, Frickleton, Robertson & Gorny filed suits in every state claiming that AT&T was in violation of the Internet Tax Freedom Act, which placed a moratorium on taxes for Internet access until November 1, … Read more

Sony sued for PlayStation Network data breach

Like clockwork, the first lawsuit resulting from the security breach of the personal data of more than 75 million Sony PlayStation Network customers has been filed.

The suit was filed today on behalf of Kristopher Johns, 36, of Birmingham, Ala., in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California. Johns accuses Sony of not taking "reasonable care to protect, encrypt, and secure the private and sensitive data of its users."

He also believes Sony took too long to notify him and other customers that their personal information had been exposed. Because of that, the complaint … Read more

Mark Zuckerberg action figure needs a friend

Hit the road, Ken. Social-media Barbie has a new crush she can film with the camera on her chest: the Mark Zuckerberg action figure.

It seems everyone wants a piece of the Facebook CEO these days. President Obama recently picked his brain, hackers want to exploit his bread and butter, and a stalker recently clamored for his attention. Now you can have ol' Zuck all for yourself in his trademark hoodie, jeans, and sandal ensemble for $69 and shipping fees (sold at the M.I.C Gadget Store).

The likeness in the 7-inch-doll is remarkable, but it isn't exactly spot on. In fact, there's something almost creepy about this action figure, and perhaps it's the giant head that matches the torso in size. Still, Zuckerberg's freckled face is very well done, with incredible detail in the visage and curly hair. Those blue jeans also look absurdly good for a paint job.

The Zuckerberg action figure includes two acrylic plates with the "Poke" and "Like" icons, and in the land of make believe I could see those being tossed at the retired Steve Jobs action figure. There are also some speech caption bubbles that can be attached to Zuck's head so you can pretend the man behind a 500-million-user social network actually wants to talk to you.… Read more
