Oodles of cases from Speck
Every day is like Christmas around here: it seems I'm always opening a package or three. This does somewhat take the shine off of the actual holiday, but I can't pretend it's not fun trying to guess what's in each nondescript box. Imagine my suprise at opening one such oversized package from Speck products and discovering that rather than a correspondingly large product, the box contained many, many small ones. Cases, to be exact. Lots of them. Indeed, it appears that Speck has created a protective sleeve for every variety of mobile gadget. This is, of … Read more
Microsoft gets pushy with Palm
No, no, it's not what you think. This isn't an OS war, but rather a nice collaboration between Palm and Microsoft that will benefit Treo 700p and Treo 680 owners. Today Palm announced the availability of a Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync Update that brings Microsoft's Direct Push technology to the Palm-based Treos and allows for wireless synchronization of your e-mail, calendar, and contacts. Woo-hoo. The update will be available starting Monday, at which point you can download it from www.palm.com/easdownload.
Friday giggles: iPhone vs. Treo showdown
Recently, we rounded up some of the most overhyped cell phones to date, and we don't think it's too much of a stretch to say that the Apple iPhone might be headed that way. Yet amidst all the serious debate about whether the iPhone is a rip-off or a force to be reckoned with, there's still a little fun to had. BBSpot has a humorous little spoof of a showdown between the iPhone and the Palm Treo, noting upfront that "We haven't had our hands on either device, but that hasn't stopped us from … Read more
Palm releases update for Treo 680
Palm released a software update for the Treo 680 Thursday to fix a problem in which the embedded camera drains the smart phone's battery.
"Palm has identified that the Treo 680 device can experience reduced battery life when the camera is used. The camera may continue to draw power from the battery when the device is in standby mode," a posting on the Palm Web site said. All Treo 680 users should install the Camera Update, the company said. Palm and Cingular officially launch Palm Treo 750
Well, well, well, looky here: CES 2007 hasn't even officially started, and we already have a hot little product announcement: the Palm Treo 750 for Cingular. Actually, as per usual, this news wasn't much of a secret; details of the release leaked onto the Web prior to the show. Plus, we were expecting to see this Windows-based Treo drop before the holidays, but after delays with carrier certification, the launch was pushed back till after the new year, and CES is certainly the place to debut it (after all, it served as the backdrop for the Treo 700w … Read more

Cingular to sell Treo 680 on Nov. 24
The Palm Treo 680 will debut on Cingular Wireless as we're all recovering from gorging ourselves on turkey and stuffing.
It's official: beginning November 24, you can get yourself a Treo in a color besides boring graphite or arctic blue because now you can choose crimson or copper, too. (Oops, that rhymed. Sorry.) The lowest-cost Treo yet, it is priced (with a contract, of course) at $199.
The smartphone was officially announced on October 12, prompting speculation as to which carrier would have first dibs on it. I'll remind you all that fellow Crave expert Bonnie Cha … Read more
