Am I too old to own a Sidekick? As someone in his early 30s (okay, mid-30s) I've always thought that the T-Mobile Sidekick belonged more in the hands of a twentysomething, My Space addict than it did in my very uncool hands. But after Bonnie Cha lent me the Sidekick LX, I discovered I liked it using it. The spacious QWERTY keyboard is one of the best I've seen on a phone and the display resoultion is top-notch. Yes, it's missing a lot of high-end data and multimedia features but as a messaging device it's hard … Read more
Oh, I see how it is. Tonight, A-list celebrities will gather in Hollywood to attend the launch party for the T-Mobile Sidekick LX--no doubt sipping the finest champagne, pecking at scrumptious hors d'oeuvres, and receiving their very own LX to take home with them. And the rest of us? Well, we get to line up at our local T-Mobile store starting at 8 a.m., tomorrow (first sale at 9 a.m.) along with all the other customers who are looking to get their hands on the new Sidekick. Hmm, yeah ... sounds just as fun.
All kidding aside, there … Read more
We've seen T-Mobile Sidekicks adorned with Swarovski crystals, but now the celebrity-favored messaging phone has undergone several makeovers courtesy of top fashion designers. As part of a benefit for Fashion Targets Breast Cancer, a charitable organization benefiting breast cancer research, T-Mobile invited 11 designers to customize a Sidekick 3.
Fashion luminaries like Betsey Johnson, Diane von Furstenberg, and Tommy Hilfiger all participated and the results ranged from the oh-la-la to the ugh. And as Engadget said, there's a lot going on with the Duckie Brown entry. All of the phones were sold in eBay auctions that ended yesterday. … Read more
OK, kids--hope you've been nice this year, because here's something you might want to add to your holiday wish lists. Today, T-Mobile announced not one, but two new Sidekicks to be added to its lineup: the T-Mobile Sidekick LX and the T-Mobile Sidekick Slide.
Let's start with the latter since it brings something new to the mobile messaging device: a slide-up screen (all together now: oooohhh, ahhhh). Unlike previous models, which have been manufactured by Sharp/Danger, the Sidekick Slide is made by Motorola and features a smaller design. It measures 4.6 inches wide by 2.… Read more
For example, if you click through to a search result from MySidekick, and then come back to the search engine after a long while, MySidekick will assume you're returning from a successful foray and thus a good recommendation. If you click to a result and come back quickly, it'll assume it was a poor recommendation. Good results move up to the top of the page in the "People'… Read more
So feast your eyes on this. The Boy Genius Report has apparently scored some real-life photos of the next-gen T-Mobile Sidekick 3. Unlike previous models, the so-called Sidekick Slide (a.k.a. the Zante) is being manufactured by Motorola instead of Sharp and features a slide-up (duh, Slide) screen. No details on specs or availability just yet, but simply from a design perspective, I'm not quite sure I'm digging it. What do you guys think?
Ahh, I can just hear all the tweeners now asking mommy and daddy for this new phone. So the rumors are true: Dwyane Wade is adding cell-phone designer to his resume.
Already an NBA champion with the Miami Heat, a shoe designer for Converse, and currently working on a line of athletic clothing that will also bear his name, Wade is apparently the first pro athlete to have a hand in designing a piece of consumer electronics hardware.
The T-Mobile Sidekick 3, D-Wade Edition is set to hit shelves Feb. 21 for $399, or $299 with a two-year contract. That's $100 more than the other Sidekick 3 phones. Maybe that's because Wade actually picked out … Read more
