Ah, the beautiful people. Stylishly waving their finger food rings around whilst delicately balancing the perfect canap?. Champagne glasses reflect off of the crystal chandelier above, bathing the fancy party-goers in intricately refracted light. Yet amidst the swirl of delectable excitement, a small group huddle in a corner, obviously too uncouth to join in the festivities. It is not the garish party hats perched upon their heads that has banished them, nor is it their propensity to wear leisure suits to black-tie affairs. No, it is their greasy fingers and crumb-crusted attire that give them away as the boorish step-cousins … Read more
While the reported cases were few and far between, last week's PlayStation 3 firmware update 2.40 rendered a select few consoles completely useless. Sony had removed the upgrade just a day after the highly anticipated patch was released and claimed it was "looking into it."
Well it seems a week was all that was needed as the very bug-free, nonbroken firmware Version 2.41 is currently available for download. All of the features we told you about appear to remain intact in addition to a newer platinum trophy icon.
We should note that if you were … Read more

Yes, this is only a concept, but what a concept it is. The "PC of the Swim Rings" would turn the most hapless landlubber into a water rat, creating a floating computer and media center.
Displayed at the Next-gen PC Design Competition, this aquatic marvel would include "a GPRS receiver, Bluetooth, finger-touch input, solar power-driven processor, water-cooling system, magnetic charging interface, and waterproof design." Hey, if you're going to dream, might as well go all the way.
And just to show that it isn't entirely frivolous, according to BornRich, the "amphibious PC" … Read more

At first glance this looked like a few keys that had broken off a board or the last bite of a Hershey's dark chocolate bar. And we undoubtedly would have had more use for the latter than its actual purpose.
The "Ring Mouse" is an odd peripheral that's designed to be worn on a finger, with a tiny trackball controlled by your thumb. We really wish a video had been included with the product literature, because it sounds as if only a contortionist could operate it as described. And it's corded, as Boing Boing notes, … Read more
This is not a sex toy. This is the TAD, a mobile phone accessory for the long-nailed or keypad-confounded. It's pretty simple really: You insert the pointy bit and then slip the ring over your thumb--hey presto, you've got a pointy thumb.
It might look a bit gimmicky, but if you've got very long nails you'll know how difficult it can be to tap buttons--the TAD could be the answer. It comes with three swappable pointers for different size keys--the pointed one you can see in the picture is for touch screens. It's not perfect, … Read more
From its weird name to bizarre product lineup, we've always been fascinated by Hong Kong-based Brando. It has, after all, been single-handedly responsible for giving us everything from lip phones and mosquito repellants to mouse massagers and aromatherapy speakers.
But every once in a long while, it comes up with something we'd actually consider buying. And this is one of the exceptions: an LED message pen. We have no idea why--it's not as if we need one to advertise our business or anything, though it would be pretty nifty to have one that lit up with "… Read more
Far be it from us to dispense advice regarding nuptials, but if someone pops the question to you with one of these rings, we suggest running as fast as humanly possible in the opposite direction.
Not only is this "Cat 5 Compliant Wedding Set" frighteningly geeky (and not in a good way), but it's not even all that original. At least the USB engagement rings we saw recently have some practical purpose, such as it is. We do admit, however, that there's something telling in Etsy's description of the male ring as being "dramatically … Read more
