Koreans flock to Galaxy S3 at Samsung showroom

SEOUL, South Korea -- Samsung's Galaxy S3 LTE hit stores in South Korea a few days ago, and the phone's popularity was plain to see at the tech giant's store here in the Gangnam district of Seoul.

Koreans swarmed around the oversized handset at the flagship Samsung D'light Shop, which is roughly equivalent to Apple stores.

The quad-core phone debuted on Korean carriers KT, LG U+, and SK Telecom this week. Samsung apparently sold 50,000 units on its first day.

Staff at the Samsung store say the phone's selling points are its battery life and speed, LTE support, and features like the ability to show a video feed in one window while using other functions. … Read more

My 4 weeks with the Samsung Galaxy S3 (so far)

Over the last four weeks, I've reviewed the Samsung Galaxy S III (GS3) on four different carriers, thoroughly tested its camera, and dove into its beaming and voice search features. Suffice it to say, I feel like I know the phone pretty well.

The blue T-Mobile version has been a constant companion for over a month, and in between the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean release on Google's I/O-issued Galaxy Nexus and other handset reviews, I've tried to make the GS3 my primary phone. On the whole, it has performed reliably whenever I need it, and … Read more

Nokia 808 PureView camera vs. Samsung Galaxy S3 vs. iPhone 4S (pictures)

The Nokia 808 PureView's fame comes down to its camera, which can capture up to 41 megapixels of digital information and output incredibly detailed images at 5, 8, and yes, even 41 megapixels if that's what you really want.

The secret to the camera's performance is the extra-large sensor, which is physically much larger than usual 5-megapixel and 8-megapixel sensors (see the difference here.) Still, the camera's software has to render the image correctly as well.

I added my own shootout to CNET Asia's excellent photo test, to see how well the camera performed in … Read more

New Samsung Galaxy S3 ads: Very Facebook, not very Apple

If I can't share with you -- right now -- that I'm about to weep/gnash/gurn/smile/eat, then what kind of modern human am I?

It's a deeply modern and persuasive … Read more
