The chip designer yesterday announced its new ARM Cortex-M0+ processor. The chip is designed for intelligent sensors and smart control systems in a host of markets, including home appliances, medical monitoring, and motor-control devices.

Verizon doubling 4G LTE sites by the end of 2012

Verizon Wireless is poised to reach many more Americans this year with its 4G LTE service.

Speaking to Dow Jones Newswires in an interview published yesterday, Verizon Chief Technical Officer David Small said that the company will have "at least 400 markets" equipped with 4G LTE by the end of the year. Verizon currently has about 200 sites around the U.S. covering 200 million Americans. With the new rollout, the company hopes to have 260 million Americans covered.

Apple has revealed 4G LTE pricing for its new iPad.

According to the company, those who choose AT&T's service will need to pay $14.99 per month for 250MB of data. If they want 3GB or 5GB of monthly data, iPad owners will be paying $30 or $50, respectively. Verizon's cheapest plan starts at 1GB per month and will cost customers $20. The carrier's 2GB and 5GB options are $30 and $50, respectively.
