New variant of the "HellRaiser" low-risk Trojan surfaces

Though not a grave security risk for Mac users, a new Trojan horse called "OSX/HellRTS.D" has been identified by Intego (developers of VirusBarrier X). Apple releases Digital Camera RAW Compatibility update 3.2

For all photographers and those managing RAW images, Apple has released another RAW compatibility update that extends the RAW format compatibility to Aperture 3 and iPhoto '09 for a number of Canon, Olympus, and Sony cameras. Xcode 3.2.2 available for developers

Apple has made version 3.2.2 of their Xcode developer tools available, which is primarily a bug fix for the debugger and interface builder, as well as the llvm-gcc compiler and some of Apple's optimization tools including Clang and Shark. The update also addresses bugs with Interface Builder. If you have earlier versions of Xcode, keep in mind that this update will need to be installed over OS 10.6.2 or later.… Read more

Apple quietly ushers out Time Capsule "backup" update 1.0

Apple recently released a small update for Time Capsule users, which tackles an issue where backups made on OS X 10.5 are unavailable for people who upgraded to 10.6. The update does not really fix much, but instead will just verify the current backup and then start you over with a new backup disk image. UPDATE: Apple does not make it very clear that this update will remove your backup history and start you over with new backups. Keep this in mind if you apply this update.… Read more

Apple releases Leopard and Snow Leopard Security Updates, and iMac Firmware updates.

Apple has released a couple of security updates, for both Snow Leopard and Leopard systems. In addition, there are a couple of firmware updates available for the 27-inch iMac, which will update the system management controller and EFI firmware.
