This story reported that Fossett would have been the first person to dive to the bottom of the Mariana Trench. In fact, a team of two men did the dive in 1960, aboard a bathyscaphe--a "deep boat"--called the Trieste. Had Fossett made the trip, he would have been the first to do it solo.
The fuel efficiency figures were transposed and have been corrected. Also, the outcome of the Federal Trade Commission case has been corrected. The case was settled.
This story incorrectly described the Apple iPhone. The iPhone does have GPS capability.
Mitchell Baker's title was incorrect. She is the former CEO of Mozilla Corp. She is currently chair of both the Mozilla Corp. and the Mozilla Foundation.
An earlier version of this story incorrectly stated that Google had not officially launched an application marketplace. Google has announced an application Web site called Android Market.
The current name for the GPS-based ride-sharing product is Mapflow's Avego.
