A wristwatch for DJ Tom Thumb

Puma sweats? Check. Adidas shell toes? Check. Kangol? Check. But you still need a watch to keep yourself on point and on time.

The Stamps Disco record turntable watch is a perfect fit for b-boys and vinyl aficionados, offering a miniature turntable as its face. You can also swap in a disco-ball-themed faceplate, but the turntable looks doper.

The $55 watch is available online through Urban Outfitters.

In a perfect world, the watch would actually play miniature records, but unfortunately, the face is just for show. But what a sweet show it is.

Telecommuting robot gives Canadian man office presence

Correction: In an earlier version of this item, Ivan Bowman was credited as the inventor of the IvanAnywhere robot. Ian McHardy, a co-worker of Bowman's at Sybase iAnywhere in Waterloo, Canada, is the actual creator of the robot. Thanks to FromWaterloo in the Crave TalkBack section for pointing it out.

Telecommuting is nothing new. Nor is Web conferencing. But building a robot to come into the office while you work at home? That's both new and awesome.

Ian McHardy created IvanAnywhere to cruise around the office and establish a physical presence for his co-worker, Ivan Bowman, as Bowman … Read more

Microsoft gives Media Center Extender another try

Microsoft plans another go at the media center extender concept, but it's unclear whether the new features will be enough to lure more buyers than it did with the first go-around a few years back.

As in the past, the devices are designed to connect to a TV in one room to access music, photos and video from a computer in another room. It's the same idea as the Apple TV, which even Steve Jobs says is more a "hobby" for Apple than a real business.

A real question exists as to how many buyers are … Read more

Apple iPod Touch or something else entirely?

Today Apple refreshed its iPod lineup, introducing four iPod options in the process. For roughly $400 you can buy a 16GB iPod Touch with Internet capability, a 160GB iPod Classic or a combo of iPod Shuffles and Nanos.

But you could also splurge on something else entirely.

Overheard here at CNET, ideas include:

• 100 dozen doughnuts.

• One-way plane ticket to Paris.

• Hire a dog walker.

• The Beatles albums on vinyl.

• Garmin eTrex Vista HCx GPS receiver, plus a high-capacity microSD card.

• A newly cheaper iPhone.

• An external hard drive with more space to … Read more

The Aquapub never closes

Falling off a barstool has never been this refreshing.

The Aquapub is either the best idea ever, the worst idea ever, or somewhere close to either hash mark. It's been available for a while, but it's hard to find any pricing info on the official site. Other blogs claim it costs around $1,400.

The six-person table weighs about 90 lbs. and can be used both in the water and poolside. The Aquapub's surface is made from recycled materials, and the table itself is filled with polyurethane to keep it from sinking.

Obvious pros include having your … Read more

NBC Universal didn't waste any time replacing Apple.

Electronic lederhosen showcased at IFA

Crave UK has a great photo gallery of the top tech spotted at IFA 2007 in Berlin, but these suede iLederhosen somehow didn't make the cut.

The lederhosen, which have integrated iPod controls under the left pocket, put the funk in Internationale Funkausstellung.

The Bavarian-style pantaloons, first seen at this year's CeBit, are made by German clothing stalwart Lodenfrey. Lodenfrey has been making haute fashions since 1842, but they've only been making electro-lederhosen since last July.

Is Comcast's BitTorrent filtering violating the law?

Disclaimer: I am not a lawyer. I'm a cybersecurity Ph.D. student and take classes in the Indiana University law school, but this in no way makes me a legal expert. CaveatlLector.

Within the last few weeks, there have been a number of reports by Comcast customers claiming that their BitTorrent downloads and uploads have been capped--or worse, blocked. TorrentFreak recently reported that Comcast, a major U.S. cable company, is using an application from Sandvine to throttle such connections.

Many ISPs routinely filter the traffic on their networks. Many forbid customers from running e-mail servers or Web servers, … Read more
