Asus announced last week the release of two new monitors featuring DisplayLink technology. DisplayLink allows devices such as monitors and projectors to be connected to PC's solely through USB.

Asus is the latest manufacturer to take advantage of the technology with the announcement of these two new monitors, the VW223B and the VW202B. The VW223B is a 22-inch monitor available now with a native resolution of 1680x1050 and a contrast ratio of 3000:1 (it'll be interesting to see the methodology they used to get that number) and a 5ms response time.

Internet service provider Charter Communications announced Tuesday that it was indefinitely suspending the use of a controversial tool to track its customers' movement on the Web.

Charter, the fourth-largest cable operator in the U.S., announced in May that it would use technology from a company called NebuAd to monitor some of its broadband customers' Internet habits to provide advertisers with information to target online ads to individual customers. Privacy advocates had likened the service to Internet wiretapping.

BenQ has introduced its new range of LCD monitors, among them one that it claims is the first 21.5-inch full high-definition panel with a 16:9 aspect ratio.

That would make its E2200HDA monitor the smallest LCD with a native full-HD (1080p) resolution in the market. Current full-HD panels start at 24-inch or larger. Additionally, the E2200HDA sports a 16:9 aspect ratio (1,920 x 1,080-pixel) display which is a better fit for full-HD content than the conventional 16:10 (1,920 x 1,200 pixels) found in most LCD monitors today.
