Facebook extended Timeline access to iPhone users with an app update released today.

In addition to the social network's new profile design, version 4.1 of the iPhone app provides mobile users access to their friend lists, subscribers, and subscriptions. Facebook says the app also makes it easier to view, upload, and comment on photos.

Facebook Timeline goes live--out with old, in with new

Facebook's more than 800 million members will now be able to convert their profiles to the new Timeline design.

The world's largest social network announced Timeline in September, and now it's available worldwide. The feature replaces current user profiles and dramatically overhauls how information is shared on the service.

"It's a way to tell all the important stories from your life on a single page," Facebook co-founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg said when he announced the new feature at his company's F8 Conference.

How to move the Twitter timeline back to the left

One of the most noticeable changes of the recent Twitter redesign, is the relocation of the timeline from the left column to the right.

If you liked it the way it was, How-To Geek has written a browser script to switch the timeline column back to the left. Google Chrome browser users can just click on the script link and allow it to install.

Though the script directions state that it supports Firefox with the Greasemonkey extension, we couldn't get it to work with Firefox 8.0.1 and Greasemonkey 0.9.13.

New Zealanders first to get Facebook's Timeline

Facebook says it has started rolling out its much-anticipated Timeline feature, and the Kiwis are the first to get it.

In an official blog post, Facebook said that "Starting today, we are making Timeline more widely available as we measure speed and other types of performance. We'll begin by making it available to people in New Zealand and then roll it out more broadly in the near future."

Timeline is Facebook's attempt at completely overhauling user's profiles. Announced in September at its F8 developers conference, the feature has at its core one simple idea: giving … Read more

How to disable Facebook Timeline and get the old profile back

Editors' note (March 30, 2012): This method for removing Timeline only applied to those who enabled it before its public release. Now that the Timeline is being rolled out to everyone, there is no official way to remove it and revert back to the old profile. However, there are a few workarounds. A Chrome extension was recently released that hides the Timeline, so people who use the Chrome Web browser can follow these instructions. There is now an add-on for Firefox that does the same thing.

For the rest of you, we put together this roundup of ideas for making the most out of Facebook Timeline.… Read more

Twitter quietly testing expandable timeline

Twitter is quietly testing an expandable timeline that allows users to see media and related information inside the timeline instead of off to the side.

The redesigned timeline, which was first reported by Patrick Bisch of Pinglio, allows users to click on individual tweets to expand conversations, media, and retweets. (See the video Bisch created below.)

Hovering over a tweet produces an "Open" link that allows users to open a tweet to see who retweeted the message, as well as view the entire threaded conversation. Opening a tweet with media such as a TwitPic image or YouTube video … Read more

Genie Timeline Free is designed to back up the stuff you want it to save and make it easy to retrieve it. It archives desktop files and folders, My Documents, e-mail, bookmarks, videos, music, pictures, Office files, and financial files. It's intended to be a set-and-forget solution for safeguarding your system. However, the freeware disables the critical Disaster Recovery feature that lets you recover your system after a disk failure or formatting. Facebook foils injunction request against Timeline

A U.S. District Court judge has ruled that Facebook's new Timeline feature should not be subject to a temporary restraining order after claims were brought against it last week by Chicago-based Timelines.com.

The ruling, which came down on Friday in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois, also included a request that both sides argue their cases in court tomorrow. In addition, according to PaidContent, which obtained a copy of the ruling, Facebook has agreed to not launch the Timeline feature publicly for now and will provide a daily update on how many … Read more
