What do you do when you have way too many CD coasters lying around in the house? The idea must have plagued designer Belen Hermosa as well, with the result being the "Panda Chair."

While we're all for the recycle and reuse movement, we're guessing this one would just replace those neck and back aches with new pains in your butt and thighs. Still, it's an interesting intepretation of a computer chair--just one that might be better appreciated from afar.

Computer equipment made of wood is certainly nothing new, but our eco-blogger sensibilities compel us to take note whenever we find an item made of our favorite enviro-friendly casing material: bamboo.

To that end, today we offer this bamboo optical mouse in a polished natural finish, made of a hard variety that Red Ferret says is "panda-friendly." Pandas eat only soft bamboo, apparently, so they're not threatened by the harvesting of this type of vegetation.

Over the weekend, thousands of legitimate English-language Italian Web sites fell victim to one line of code. Taking advantage of the trust the users have in the sites they visit, the malicious code silently redirects browsers via JavaScript to servers containing a variety of drive-by exploits. If the visiting computer is unpatched for a variety of operating system, browser, and specific application flaws, malicious code is downloaded. What a letdown. When we first heard the name of Wacom's new digital tablet, the "Bamboo," we were hoping for something like the wooden laptops and DVD players we've lusted after. Alas, it appears to be made of standard manufactured materials, attractive enough but nothing like a bamboo TV. But enough about our sylvan fetish.

Just a few hours ago we were convinced that wood was taking over the gadget world, but we may have to refine that a bit--perhaps it's just bamboo.
