That pesky taller iPhone 5 screen pops up on video

What may or may not be the larger screen adorning the next iPhone has been captured on video.

No, you won't see the actual screen. Instead it's the glass panel that your fingers and face grease up.

Japanese Apple blog Macotakara today published a visual comparison of the mystery part that's been floating around for the past few days, putting it next to the existing iPhone to show just how much bigger the screen would be:

The two notable changes, of course, are that the screen is taller, and that the FaceTime camera has been moved to … Read more

Latest iPhone 5 leak teases more RAM, map tweaks

While Apple's next iPhone isn't expected to arrive until later this year, details of what the device will look like and how Apple might change some of its key software features continue to trickle out.

The latest comes from 9to5Mac, which earlier this week posted purported photos of the front and back of upcoming iPhone models. Today the blog has a follow-up with details of a development version of the hardware, and iOS 6 -- the next major version of iOS Apple is expected to debut at the company's developer conference in a few weeks.

U.K. court: Assange can be extradited

WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange can be extradited to Sweden to face questioning about allegations that he committed sex crimes, the U.K. Supreme Court has ruled.

Six law lords today said that the WikiLeaks editor can be extradited to Sweden under a European arrest warrant, as requested by Swedish prosecutors. Assange was not present to hear the London court's ruling.

"The request for Mr. Assange's extradition has been lawfully made, and his appeal has been dismissed," said Supreme Court president Lord Phillips as he handed down the court's decision.

The decision was not unanimous, with … Read more

Ice Cream Sandwich leak spotted on Droid Razr

Ice Cream Sandwich leaks are dripping all over the Motorola Droid Razr today with Android 4.0 apparently spotted on Verizon's fancy thin phone.

Droid Life posted the screen shots from a reader who claims to have gotten ahold of a build with the same file size as the file listed in Verizon's leaked update schedule that I reported on earlier today. That leak appeared to show plans to push out an over-the-air upgrade to Ice Cream Sandwich for the Razr beginning on May 21.

I was also whining earlier about the false alarm upgrade I received to my own Droid Razr earlier this week that turned out to be an incremental Gingerbread update, but if rumors are true, that could have been the build required to lay the foundation for the imminent Android 4.0 upgrade.

Baby steps, I suppose. Unless, of course someone wants to share a Dropbox folder that just happens to contain that leaked Ice Cream Sandwich build with me....… Read more

Is this the new iPhone home button?

Last fall the Internet was abuzz about Apple's apparent iPhone redesign for what eventually became the iPhone 4S. Much to the dismay of the media and some louder consumers, the iPhone 4S retained the same design profile as the previous-generation iPhone 4.

At the time, the redesign was expected to feature a teardrop back casing, a bigger screen and, among other things, an ovular home button. If the shape of the home button is any indication of a complete redesign, the latest part leak from Chinese supplier TVC-Mall.com (via Apple Bitch) may not win over many of the … Read more

The organization said the programs and transcripts will be made available online and that &… Read more

Sprint-flavored iPad coming sooner rather than later?

A new iPad capable of running on Sprint's fledgling 4G network was missing from this week's big refresh event, but if you believe in leaked photos, such a device could be just around the corner.

Engadget posts what it says are shots of Best Buy's inventory system that list a slew of new iPads that run on Sprint's network. At Apple's event on Wednesday, the only 4G-compatible tablets introduced were ones that run on AT&T and Verizon.

But in an Engadget shot, 14 such devices are listed on the screen next to what … Read more

Leaked ad outs Sony Vaio U hybrid tablet PC

A supposed tablet/laptop hybrid PC from Sony made an appearance today in a leaked ad that appears very authentic.

The computer, known as the Vaio U series, reminds us of the concept hybrid computer shown by the Japanese company at CES this year. The information comes to us via a leaked flyer, courtesy of PocketNow, that contains little information other than various low-resolution angles of the hybrid PC. That doesn't stop us from figuring out several possible details, though. … Read more

Least sexy iPad 3 part re-emerges in colors, with buttons

Was last week's smoldering imagery of the front glass panel allegedly belonging to Apple's iPad 3 not enough for you? Good news, there's more.

Gadget repair service Repair Labs today (via MacRumors) posts images of a pair of digitizers, the front panel that includes the glass and the touch sensitive layer it says belongs to the iPad 3. The images represent what look like a part that's further along than the one from last week, which appeared unfinished.

Besides the black and white color options, the big takeaway here is that the front of the device … Read more
