5 car video game crossovers we want to see

In light of the Jeep Wrangler making an appearance in the new Call of Duty: Black Ops, and the associated Wrangler Black Ops edition offered by Jeep, we came up with five other video game car crossovers we would like to see. We looked at the top games either available now or coming soon on GameSpot, and picked five likely candidates for a crossover deal.

Nissan planning three EVs in next four years

Nissan plans to release three new electric vehicles within the next four years, according to an article in the Detroit News. Following the Leaf will be a commercial electric vehicle, a luxury sports car, and small urban vehicle.

Blurry sketches of Infiniti's proposed electric sports car were released on Facebook last month, but other than its proposed release date of 2013, details of the vehicle are scarce. However, the Japanese carmaker recently revealed its Nissan New Mobility Concept--a small electric vehicle for urban use--which could be the basis for the compact urban vehicle in question.

Daimler talks could bring Infiniti a car smaller than G

NASHVILLE--Platform-sharing talks between Nissan Motor and Daimler AG are zeroing in on a new Infiniti model that could be slotted below the brand's entry-size G sedan and coupe sold by U.S. dealers.

While the talks are under way, Infiniti's U.S. sales and marketing head Ben Poore says a sub-G vehicle would be a welcome addition.

"Our competitors have products in what you could call the [Mercedes] sub-C class, or [BMW] sub-3 series," Poore says.

"There's a big market there, and that segment is going to grow."

Infiniti's EV looks sketchy

Teasing its electric car slated for 2013, Infiniti showed a drawing of how it might look.

The sketch shows a more cab-forward design than current Infiniti models, likely due to the lesser need for space under the hood. Departing from Infiniti's design language, the hood comes up higher than the fenders and a substantial contour line stretches down the sides.

The wheels are oversized, but designers typically put large wheels on concepts.

Infiniti does not have much to say about the car, merely describing it as a "stylish, compact, high performance, five-seat luxury car." The term "… Read more

This is the EV that Infiniti has been promising

Infiniti just released a sketch on its Facebook page of the electric sports car that it's been promising. And if you squint, it kind of looks like the Essence Coupe concept. The only clear thing in the photo is the Infiniti logo, which gives plenty of wiggle room for it to look pretty much like any (and every) coupe.

From Infiniti's Facebook page:

It's a big news day at Infiniti. First off, we're excited to share with you a sketch of the forthcoming Infiniti EV zero emissions vehicle, coming in 2013. Second, the IPL G Convertible … Read more

Infiniti G37's slow and bulky drop top

With the G37's powerful engine and sharp handling, first-rate cabin electronics, and excellent-sounding Bose audio system there was little not to like about the car. Being able to drop the top and go cruising on sunny California coastal highways seemed about as good as it gets.

Yet not everything was perfect with the Infiniti G37 Convertible. Compared to other cars with retractable hard tops, the G37's is dead slow. And while we are used to seeing trunks filled up with folded roof panels, there was only a bare sliver of space left over in the trunk of the … Read more

Infiniti's first hybrid to debut in Los Angeles

Although few details have been released, Infiniti made pictures available of its long-rumored M hybrid sedan, which will be unveiled at the 2010 Los Angeles Auto Show. The car enters production in 2011 as the 2012 Infiniti M35 Hybrid.

The body style for the M35 Hybrid is the same as the new generation Infiniti M sedan, which we reviewed as the 2011 M56. With its graceful curves and interior appointments, the new M takes a step toward flagship sedan status, but still feels a bit small when compared to stalwarts such as the Audi A8 and Mercedes-Benz S-class.

Infiniti hots up the G37

In the automotive world, performance lines abound. BMW builds M cars, Mercedes-Benz offers AMG versions of its cars, and Audi puts the RS badge on a few models. Even Lexus got into the game recently with the F version of the IS model.

Among the luxury brands, only Infiniti remained immune from building tuner versions of its cars. Until now.

Enter the Infiniti G37 IPL, being shown for the first time at the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance. The newly introduced performance brand, IPL, stands for Infiniti Performance Line, and uses, in our opinion, a very un-Infiniti-like graphic design.

Nissan's next EV to be a sports car

While its electric compact nears production, Nissan also plans to produce an electric sports car bearing the Infiniti badge.

Sources told Edmunds Inside Line that the carmaker is considering either an all-electric 370Z-E or an electric version of the Essence Coupe, the concept hybrid it revealed at the 2009 Geneva Motor Show. All that has been confirmed by Nissan in previous news statements about its future electric vehicle plans is that the car will be a "stylish, compact, high-performance four-seat luxury Infiniti with zero emissions."
