HTC: Samsung spent money on marketing, not innovation

After watching Samsung Electronics unveil the Galaxy S4, HTC President Jason MacKenzie was feeling pretty good.

Actually, he felt bad -- but for Samsung.

"I went from laughing to actually feeling embarrassed at some of the acting," MacKenzie told CNET.

Samsung chose a unique way to present the Galaxy S4 and its many new features, staging a number of skits to highlight the phone's new capabilities. The theatrics were appropriate given that the event was held at Radio City Music Hall in New York.

MVNO carrier Ting says it will get the Galaxy S4

We're still 24 hours from knowing if the Samsung Galaxy S4 even exists, but that hasn't stopped one wireless carrier from bragging about the device to customers.

Earlier today, Ting, a mobile virtual network operator (MVNO) that resells Sprint's network, posted a blog on its site where it promised that not only would it snag the long-awaited Galaxy S4 but also the recently-announced HTC One, and the Samsung Galaxy S3 Mini.

Verizon will reportedly sell the HTC One after all

It appears HTC got all the major U.S. wireless carriers to play ball.

Verizon Wireless, initially the lone carrier that skipped carrying the flagship HTC One phone, will actually sell the phone after all, according to a report by AllThingsD.

A representative from Verizon declined to comment. An HTC representative declined to comment, saying that this falls under rumor and speculation.

HTC One faces shipment delays, may hit stores in April

It looks like there's more bad news down the pike for HTC and its One flagship phone.

The handset vendor said today it is pushing back the phone's arrival of preorders in certain markets to the end of the month, with a formal rollout to other markets in April, according to a company representative. HTC told CNET last week that Singapore wouldn't get the One until April.

HTC previously targeted the phone to launch globally this month.

Freshly leaked details for an upcoming HTC Myst seem to confirm rumors of a new "Facebook phone."

Specifications obtained by Unwired View line up nicely with previous chatter for the so-called Facebook smartphone. Reportedly, HTC and AT&T will again collaborate on an Android smartphone targeted at Facebook addicts. It's still unclear, however, how soon such a device would arrive on store shelves.

HTC scores patent victory over Nokia in Germany

HTC and Android have both emerged as victors in a patent squabble with Nokia in Germany.

The District Court of Mannheim ruled today that HTC did not violate two Nokia patents in question, according to the IDG News Service.

The two cases stem from last May, when Nokia filed lawsuits against HTC, BlackBerry, and Viewsonic, citing 45 different patent violations among the three sued companies. HTC has been seeking licensing fees from the three companies for using the technologies described in the patents.
