Mercedes-Benz E-Class gets sexier coupe model

Mercedes-Benz has revealed photos of the all-new Mercedes-Benz coupe just three months after the reveal of the sedan version. The Coupe is set to bow at the 2009 Geneva auto show.

The E-Class coupe is positioned to be a sort of jack-of-all-trades sports coupe with an initial line-up of five engines, three suspension variants, a wide choice of colors, six different wheel/tire combinations, and many optional extras.

Video: Rolls Royce Phantom Coupe

It's the new Rolls Royce Phantom Coupe, and we've got a sneak peek at the 2008 Geneva auto show. If you're the type of person who likes to ride in style, and with tiny LED lights embedded in the rooftop that resemble stars, then this is the car for you.

Look but don't touch: Ford Focus Coupe-Cabriolet

There could not have been a better metaphor. The Pininfarina-designed retractable hardtop version of the Focus Focus on display here on the first morning of the Geneva auto show was unveiled in its full glory before the world's media. However, the salivating auto journalists could not get their hands on the car, which was raised above the show floor on a protected platform. A similar frustration will likely be felt by customers in the United States when they find out that this stylish addition to the Focus lineup will be not be making its way across the Atlantic. First drive: 2008 BMW M3 Coupe

As a fan of the predecessor to this current M3, the e46, I was skeptical about driving what some called a heavy, underpowered car that didn't quite live up to its ancestors' legacy. A few die-hard enthusiasts, amid cracking tired Bangle jokes that are oh-so-five-years-ago, called it the MPIG, bemoaning the addition of more sensors and high-tech gadgets that added weight and deterred DIYers. And I almost bought into it.

Sure, I'll never love the look of the car like I love the e46. But the new M3 is, for better or worse, one of those cars you … Read more

Hyundai Concept Genesis Coupe steals the show

This year's Los Angeles Auto Show is notable for its conspicuous lack of exciting new models and concepts. One automaker to buck the trend, however, is Hyundai, which took the wraps off the best-looking car of the day when it unveiled its Concept Genesis Coupe.

The coupe is the second car to get the Genesis designation, following the Genesis Concept sedan unveiled earlier this year in New York and scheduled for production as a 2009 model.

Like the sedan, the Coupe is rear-wheel drive, and is powered by a 3.8-liter V-6 that's making north of 300 horsepower.… Read more

UTStarcom makes the Coupe official...again

CTIA Fall 2007 isn't really the place for most cell phone manufacturers to announce new devices; in fact, many companies come here to reannounce devices that have already been, well, announced. That's how it is for the UTStarcom Coupe from Verizon Wireless, that back-to-basics emergency phone that we reviewed a month or so ago. UTStarcom has released a press release announcing that they're launching the phone today, even though it was out a while ago. As we said back then, the UTStarcom 8630 is a phone made for the elderly or older adults; it has a clear … Read more

Verizon launches the Wireless Coupe

Verizon recently launched the Wireless Coupe, a UTStarcom handset that comes with three unique emergency speed-dial buttons underneath the internal display. The buttons spell out ICE (In Case of Emergency) and provide instant access to 911 and two other emergency phone numbers you can assign yourself. The Wireless Coupe (I don't get it--is there a Wireless Sedan phone somewhere I'm not aware of?) is otherwise a pretty basic phone--no camera or Bluetooth, for example--but this is clearly meant for those who just want a phone around for emergency's sake. The phone is available for $20 with a … Read more

2008 smart cars ready to hit U.S.

Pricing is out for the new, admittedly odd-looking smart fortwo. The compact vehicle, manufactured by Mercedes, features a 1-liter, 3-cylinder engine that puts out a maximum of 71 horsepower. Cars are expected to ship the first quarter of 2008.

The base model starts at $11,590 and includes a 5-speed transmission that switches from automatic to manual mode with the touch of a button. The "passion coupe," which includes features found in more expensive luxury cars like a panorama roof, alloy wheels, paddle shifters and heated side mirrors, starts at $13,590. The convertible will be $16,590 … Read more

2008 Honda Accord first look

During a time when many car manufacturers are scaling down to offer smaller cars with improved fuel economy, the new 2008 Honda Accord is hitting the market with a "bigger is better" philosophy.

Besides having an obviously new look, the new Accord is larger in all interior and exterior dimensions. It's longer, wider, and taller on the outside, and roomier on the inside. In fact, the 3.3 cubic feet of additional interior space was enough to bump it into the EPAs "large car" category, although Honda says the car will still compete in the … Read more
