For the 2007 Los Angeles Auto Show, Ferrari showed off two variations on previous models. The 430 Scuderia is based on the F430, but significantly lightened and given a new transmission to give it track performance on par with Ferrari's Enzo model. Where the 430 Scuderia emphasizes performance, the 612 Sessanta emphasizes luxury. The latter is a collector's edition, based on the 612 Scaglietti, marking Ferrari's 60th anniversary.

Bose finally endorses HDMI

After sidelining this now de facto digital A/V interface for years, Bose has finally relented with two new HDMI-enabled products.

The Lifestyle V20 and V30-series home theater systems feature a hideaway media console outfitted with two HDMI inputs and a single output, Audioholics. Both 5.1-channel kits also perform automatic HD video scaling up to 1080p and are loaded with a DVD player plus its proprietary ADAPTiQ sound calibration system.

The V20 is priced at $1,999, while the higher-end V30 with Jewel Cube speakers is going for $2,999. We are still awaiting confirmation on the products' availability.… Read more

Bose makes the SoundDock portable

Bose today announced an update to the existing SoundDock line, the SoundDock Portable. Included with the new model is a rechargeable lithium-ion battery that allows you to play and charge your iPod wherever you go. Additionally, Bose has included a line-in jack with this iteration, something that we would have liked to have seen implemented in the previous version.

JVC takes aim at Bose with more affordable high-end noise-canceling headphones

Every few weeks it seems someone's announcing a new pair of noise-canceling headphones that are designed to take on Bose's ultrapopular--and ultraexpensive--QuietComfort line of headphones. This week's entry is the JVC HA-NC250, the company's new top-end noise-canceling headphone.

The formula's pretty simple for creating--or at least attempting to create--a pair of Bose-killers. Make them sound good, look luxurious and comfortable, and then price them $100 less than the Bose QuietComfort 2 headphones, which sell for $300 (the smaller QuietComfort 3's go for $350).

Bose upgrades in-ear headphones with free accessories

Last week, Bose indicated that it was revisiting the "stability issue" of its recently released in-ear headphones. At a media event today at its New York City Columbus Circle store, the company filled in the blanks on the somewhat vague invitation it issued last week--and the result is good news for any existing or prospective owner of the headphones.

Bose (sort of) admits its new headphones are flawed

A perfectionist company like Bose doesn't often admit to making mistakes, so it took me by surprise when I got an invitation to a Bose press conference in New York next week, where it appears that Bose will indeed do just that--or sort of anyway.

The product in question is Bose's Triport In-Ear headphones, which we didn't exactly give high marks here at CNET. Bose sticks it in your ear

We can't help but laugh sometimes when a company's product literature tries to hide the fact that it's late to the market. That's exactly what Bose seems to do, for example, with the description of its new TriPort in-ear headphones: "the only in-ear headphones with the rich audio and comfortable design you've come to expect from Bose." Yeah, that's a first, if you want to call it that.
