Now that we're knee-deep into summer, it's time to recap the big festivals going on this season. Coachella and Bonnaroo have come and gone, so now our eyes are on, among others, Lollapalooza in Chicago, Outside Lands in San Francisco, and Rock the Bells in cities nationwide. As another branch of the Hieroglyphics hip-hop tree, Opio is the latest to sprout a solo project. The Souls of Mischief member glides his distinct vocal delivery over blossoming homegrown beats. Although his sonic seed was planted years ago, it continues to grow as a refreshing new sound, helping to further diversify Oakland's musical landscape.
