Looking for a reason to make the leap to Windows Vista? If you spend your days sipping lattes while surfing the Net, this deal may push you toward early adoption. T-Mobile is offering three free months of Wi-Fi access for Vista users at any of its HotSpot locations. (Hot spot operator The Cloud is running a similar promotion in the U.K.) If you are paying month to month for Wi-Fi at your local Starbucks or Borders, it amounts to a savings of $120 over the three months (the offer ends April 30). That's half the sticker price of … Read more
Someone tipped Gizmodo off to the possibility of a new Samsung clamshell making its way to the T-Mobile lineup in the near future. Dubbed the Samsung Stripe for the vertical gray stripe down the middle, it will sport a low-end set of features such as a speakerphone, instant messaging, a VGA camera, Bluetooth, and T-Mobile's MyFaves support. Actual pricing is still unknown to us, but we're guessing it won't be terribly costly.
Forgive the horrible pun in the headline (five days in Vegas will do that to you), but corniness aside, the important news is that T-Mobile and Research in Motion have just released a white version of the BlackBerry Pearl and it's now available for purchase online and in retail stores.
The new pearl-white color is part of T-Mobile's and RIM's strategy to appeal to general consumers and the younger crowd, providing them with a full-featured smart phone in a sleek and stylish package. The BlackBerry Pearl White's feature set is identical to the original Pearl's.… Read more
Logging into Facebook to check up on my old college roommate yesterday, I noticed there was a giant message telling me to use Facebook Mobile. Technically, Facebook has had basic mobile features for quite some time (looking at your profile, reading messages), but my friends and I never bothered to use them, specifically because of their lack of support for my carrier T-Mobile. What is new is their mobile tab, which gives you live previews of what different parts of the site will look like on your device. There's also a Fire feature that lets you "set fire&… Read more
At CES, Samsung is showing an updated model to its earlier SGH-T319 models. The new Samsung SGH-T329 offers much of the same feature set including a VGA camera, a 65,000-color display, a speakerphone, USB cable support and Bluetooth, but fortunately it improves on its predecessor's dull design. The flip phone sports soothing, rounded edges, a gray and silver color scheme, and a vertically oriented external display. The carrier is T-Mobile, but we've no word on pricing or availability yet.
You know, it'd be really sad if you could make a ho-hum keyboard colorful, but couldn't do the same thing to a more personal gadget like, say, your T-Mobile Sidekick 3. Fortunately, we don't have think of such awful things, thanks to ColorWare, the same company that turns those drab white iPods into rainbow-colored delights. Now you can do the same with the Sidekick 3: ColorWare has teamed up with T-Mobile to offer the same customization options for the popular messaging device. The service costs $99, and you can choose from 28 colors in any combination, so … Read more
Congratulations on the phenomenal success of your Razr cell phone. It showed a true spirit of innovation and it sparked a cell phone design revolution that ushered in the thin handset craze. You certainly made the world sit up and notice your company once again. I just have one small request, however. Stop it already! After two years we're up to our ears in Razrs and we need something else. Please?
All right, I didn't write such a letter but I stand by my belief that Motorola has milked its record-breaking thin phone for far too … Read more
When it's time for Nokia to pick teams for its cell phones, it's usually good about not making any carrier feel left out. So while smaller carriers may have landed the appealing Nokia 6126, Nokia spread the love by choosing T-Mobile for the very similar Nokia 6133. The new handset is available today.
Like the 6126, the 6133 sports a sleek, flip-phone design that includes a gimmicky but cool hinge-mounted button that flips open the phone automatically. The color displays are the same as well--the internal screen supports 16 million hues--but the 6133's keypad and navigation have … Read more
Motorola seems to have taken to heart Mae West's mantra of "too much of a good thing is wonderful." The once-staid, now-hip manufacturer announced today yet more versions of the Razr, otherwise known as the world's best-selling cell phone. Handsets in the Razr V3-Miami Ink collection (also called the Razr V3t) feature elaborate designs or "tattoos" on the exterior face of the phone. Created by designer Ami James of TLC's Miami Ink, the new Razrs will be available for T-Mobile on October 30.
The initial release will feature two versions of the V3t--a … Read more
Attention teen girls: Would you buy a phone from the woman in the picture?
For starters, do you know who this is? No? Come on, she created the iconic wrap dress in 1972! Hmm, let's see... She's married to Barry Diller, CEO of IAC/InterActive Corp., which owns online properties like Ask.com and Evite. Still nothing? Don't worry, that means you're completely--normal.
T-Mobile announced that a couple of limited-edition versions of the Sidekick 3 will be available starting Oct. 30, and one of them is designed by Diane von Furstenberg. Not to be ageist, but … Read more
