i3DG puts 3D video on your iPhone, iPod Touch

Getting 3D video playback on your iPhone, iPod Touch, or iPad could be as old-school simple as tilting a mirror at an angle. And that appears to be what media artist Jitsuro Mase has done, employing three half-silvered mirrors to create the illusion of 3D display, an idea that picked up an honorary mention at the Ars Electronic Festival 2010 in September.

Bringing 3D minus the clunky 3D eyewear to the handset ahead of other phone makers, the i3DG Palm Top Theater is a small, box-shaped accessory that plugs in to an iPhone or iPod Touch for playback. It claims to be capable of supporting a gamut of applications from 3D videos to accelerometer-based games. … Read more

Consumers still looking to buy one of Hewlett-Packard's new Slate 500 devices will have to wait awhile.

The notice says the tablet is scheduled to ship in another six weeks, and a person in HP's sales department confirmed that it would be shipping on December 27. Palm Pre 2 commercials get it right

Though they aren't gracing our televisions just yet, the first commercial for the Palm Pre 2 is on YouTube. The 34-second spot is a simple affair that wisely centers on what the phone can do. Punchy music stands in for any droning voice narration while captions highlight features like the multitasking, the contacts and calendar, and the available apps. Also getting its due time is the WebOS user interface, which remains one of the Pre family's best attributes. Seriously, folks, this is what a smartphone commercial should be.

The commercial is a huge improvement over the glossy, quasi-spiritual spotsRead more
