Perhaps in response to Apple's little iCloud announcement yesterday, Microsoft posted new details about a couple of features coming to its cloud-based SkyDrive storage service with the Windows Phone Mango update.

NEW YORK--Microsoft says its ready to take on the competition with its next iteration of its Windows Phone 7 software.
At an event here today, the company demonstrated some new features that will be part of the updated software code-named Mango, which is designed to make Windows smartphones smarter and easier to use, according to Andy Lees, president of the Mobile Communications Business for Microsoft.

NEW YORK--Earlier today, Microsoft previewed its upcoming Mango update for Windows Phone. Expected to roll out to devices in the fall, Mango brings more than 500 new features, making it the biggest update to the mobile operating system since it debuted in November 2010.

The next wave of Windows phones will come from a crew that is both diverse and familiar. Acer, Fujitsu, and ZTE are new Windows Phone partners. The former two are best known for computing devices like scanners (Fujitsu), laptops and tablet PCs (both), and a recent foray into tablets (Acer).
