In the past week, a few Apple-related news bites have made the rounds. These include reports of iPhones exploding, and rumors of Apple providing Beatles music in the near future, perhaps on Apple's Music event to be held on September 9th.

Some users of Apple's Web page publishing software, iWeb, may find that some elements of their pages are not functioning as they expected when published to servers other than MobileMe.

Apple Mail deleting mail account information upon restart

Some users may experience an issue with Apple's Mail program where each time the application is quit and subsequently reopened, the user's account settings have been deleted.

Mail unable to open after updating to OS X 10.5.8

OS X users who upgraded to 10.5.8 may run into a problem where Mail will not open, and instead gives an error stating that this version of Mail cannot be used with the current operating system.

Problems with Automator's 'Watch Me Do' feature

One of Automator's promising features is the "Watch me do" capability to record user actions and play them back. Unfortunately, while this is a good idea, the implementation is very poor and many times just does not work.

Apple updates iPhoto to version 8.1

Users of Apple's iLife '09 are recommended to download the latest iPhoto update, 8.1. The update primarily features new template designs and a new book offering.

The iPhoto 8.1 update can be downloaded via Software Update for Mac users with iLife '09 installed on their system. New hardcover book options include a 10" x 13" size. Other features of the update include three new book designs and several holiday card designs.

Web browsers get much of their functionality from the plug-ins they use, such as QuickTime, Flash, and Windows Media; however, there are numerous other plug-ins for displaying a variety of similar content. MacBook Pros not going to sleep, with error: 'Wake reason = PCI'
