Organizing events through Facebook for school activities, parent meetings, or just time with friends? If the address for the location of the event is long, or you having a lot of specific people to invite, doing so can become cumbersome.
Instead of trying to keep up with making a new event each day, week, or month, you can set up a repeat event of one you already have very easily.
You'll need to create an initial event, which can be done by clicking the Events link on the left-hand side of the Facebook Web page. Next, tap the Create … Read more
Facebook is testing a couple of new features that, as usual, some people may like and others not so much.
The two features would add notices of upcoming events and recently released albums to a user's news feed, according to The Next Web.
The upcoming events feature would suggest nearby events. But these would be events that you wouldn't necessarily have been invited to join, revealed blog site AllFacebook. This is also a follow-up to the upcoming concerts feature that the social network started testing last month.
The recently released albums feature would list new albums by artists … Read more
Two years is a long time. In that number of years, you can finish a master's degree or, uh...raise a baby into a 2-year-old child. OK, that latter example wasn't the most illustrative, but what I'm trying to say is that for some mobile phone users out there, two years is too long to be locked down in a carrier agreement. That's why I've gathered a few top-notch, recently released Android devices on prepaid carriers that are ideal for those who want to be contract-free.… Read more
There's no shortage of places to catch up on the latest Election Day coverage, but Twitter is aiming to make it easier for political junkies to get news by creating a one-stop shop Election 2012 event page.
Curated by Twitter, the page is loaded with tweets from the presidential candidates, political parties, and news sources such as the Electoral College, CNN, and the Washington Post.
"It highlights tweets from candidates and their staffers, media, and other key players so you can hear directly from those close to the action," Rachael Horwitz, Twitter's senior manager of communications, … Read more
This time it's Facebook calling off a couple of get-togethers it had scheduled for this week in New York.
The social networking giant was holding an open house Tuesday at its New York office to give reporters the chance to chat with some of its engineers. The company notified the press that it canceled the event because of the storm.
It also has postponed a "Facebook Gifts" event scheduled for Thursday at New York's famed toy store, FAO Schwartz.
While Facebook provided few details about Thursday's … Read more
The Apple event today went mostly as we expected. We got the iPad Mini we were expecting (though the fourth-generation iPad was a surprise), we got a new MacBook Pro and a new iMac, and we heard a lot about the many millions of iThings that have been sold (if you made a drinking game hinging upon the word "millions" at an Apple event, you'd have passed out in the first 30 minutes). As a software reviewer, however, I have to say there wasn't very much for me to talk about.
We heard a little bit … Read more

Leaked photos last week showed the alleged Lightning dock connector for an iPad 4, suggesting a new-generation iPad is being redesigned to accommodate a wide range of new components. Now, more photos have surfaced that show the iPad 4's possible new screen.
SAN JOSE, Calif. -- Ahead of its much-anticipated news event tomorrow, Apple has already prepared the outside of the venue.
That event, which is widely expected to bring the smaller version of the iPad, is being held here in the California Theatre.
Unlike its events at the Moscone Center or the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in downtown San Francisco, the outside signage here is minimal. Apple has simply put "Apple Special Event" on the outside marquee, along with colorful posters donning the company's logo.
CNET took a field trip to snap a few shots of … Read more
