5-megapixel camera binoculars, finally

Awhile back we ran an item on a pair of camera binoculars that generated a fair amount of interest. In particular, some eagle-eyed readers noticed discrepancies in the specs from Gadget Universe, which led to confusion over its claims that the device had a 5-megapixel camera. Now, the Discovery Channel Store has a similar gadget that also lists a 5-megapixel camera combined with a pair of high-performance binoculars.

Another iPod case? Shocking

If nothing else, Ministry of Sound deserves credit for combining two of the most hyperactive cottages industries in all of consumer technology: iPod cases and iPod speakers. The "Mi-Sound iPod Case" straps to your arm too, which means you can share your music out loud with the rest of the world--whether they want to hear it or not. But if you must offend others, at least this one doesn't have the hideous design of the "Blue Beatz."

TV-DVD combo has travel bug

So much of the electronics industry is defined by opposite extremes--the smallest of the small and the biggest of the big. Nowhere is that more evident than in TVs. On one hand, we lust after displays the size of a billboard; on the other, we covet things like this combo LCD TV and DVD player with a 7-inch screen.

A mouse that tries too hard

The almost-comically named "La Feel" from E-blue combines two bad trends: overthinking the mouse and cramming too many functions into one device.

It's hard enough to find a mouse that's ergonomically correct; but this one would seem to beg unnatural contortions by building in "a four-way scroll wheel, Internet forward and back buttons, Play/Pause/Volume control keys, (and) forward and backwards music track keys," as described by Ubergizmo.

Our wrists are getting sore just thinking about it.

Japan tests combo bus-train

The Japanese are giving an entirely new meaning to the term "hybrid vehicle" with a combination train-bus.

Interestingly, the Hokkaido Railway Company has dubbed it the "DMV" for "dual-mode vehicle." (We hope that the abbreviation won't be as despised as the other DMV that we know all too well.)
