New Dodge Viper hits the racetracks this summer

Chrysler combines the Dodge Viper American Club Racer (ACR) and the safety equipment of championship-winning Dodge Viper Competition Coupe, to come up with the Viper ACR-X. The Viper ACR-X is powered by the SRT-developed 8.4-liter V-10 engine, equipped with factory headers and a low-restriction exhaust system, that produces 640 horsepower (40 more than the production model) and 605 lb.-ft. of torque (45 more than the production model).

Chrysler has key role in Alfa's 2012 plan for U.S.

TURIN, Italy--A plan to revive Alfa Romeo as it nears its 100th birthday is shaping up, and Chrysler Group has an important role.

Sergio Marchionne, CEO of Chrysler and Fiat, made a strong commitment to Fiat's money-losing sporty brand during a presentation last week of Fiat's five-year strategy. Here are highlights of the plan:

-- Sales of Alfa vehicles at Chrysler Group dealerships in the United States start in the second half of 2012.

NASA, Chrysler to share advanced-tech ideas

Chrysler Group and NASA today announced an alliance to share information related to advanced technologies.

Several topics being considered for the three-year collaboration include: materials engineering, robotics, radar, battery systems, and other energy storage mediums.

"This is a great opportunity to share knowledge and data in areas where both Chrysler Group and NASA have a vested interest," Senior Vice President, Chrysler Engineering Scott Kunselman said in a news release. "We value the opportunity to work with NASA and will implement what is learned to further improve our Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep and Ram Truck products."

Chrysler to bring Fiat 500 electric to U.S

DETROIT--Chrysler Group said on Monday it would introduce an all-electric Fiat 500 to the U.S. market in 2012 and drop plans to develop a hybrid 2011 Ram pickup truck.

The electric Fiat 500 will hit the U.S. market at least a year after the all-electric Nissan Leaf, which is to debut in late 2010.

As it was announcing work on the Fiat 500, Chrysler also said it was dropping plans to develop a Ram pickup truck for 2011.

Ram becomes the first truck to offer live TV

The Ram 1500, the Ram 2500, and the Ram 3500 now offer live, mobile TV to consumers in Texas through San Diego-based FLO TV, the Chrysler Group announced at the Dallas Auto Show.

Chrysler Group is the first automaker in the United States to offer live, mobile TV to consumers. FLO TV will offer sports, breaking news, children's shows, prime-time sitcoms, reality TV, and daytime dramas.

Chrysler auctions of a 300C for Haiti earthquake relief

Chrysler plans to auction off a 300C at the end of the month. The proceeds will go to the American Red Cross relief effort in Haiti.

Chrysler Brand President and CEO Olivier Francois talks about the auction in this Web video. The donated Chrysler 300C has been signed by about 300 celebrities. It will be auctioned on February 20 by Leake Car Auctions in Oklahoma City.

Chrysler recalls 24,177 cars over brake defect

Chrysler today announced the recall of 24,177 vehicles because of a potential defect in a brake system that could result in sudden brake failure. The recall includes the 2010 Chrysler Sebring, Dodge Avenger, and Dodge Nitro. Also included in the recall are the Jeep Liberty, Commander, and Grand Cherokee SUVs as well as 2009-2010 Dodge Ram trucks.

The vehicles included in the recall may have been built with an improperly formed or missing retaining clip for the brake booster input rod, according to Chrysler in a post on the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Web site.
