If my prediction for beer-can chicken gaining in popularity doesn't come true, I have a backup plan: fondue. The once-popular, and practically mandatory, party accessory seems to be making a comeback. In a world where Internet fads come and go like the dying breeze, I see no reason why the fondue party cannot once again dominate the casual get-together scene. Any planned interaction at a party serves two purposes: first to keep your guests entertained, but more importantly, set activities act as an ice-breaker.
It may not beat the frozen Skate steaks we got a couple of weeks ago, but today's daily dose of video game swag comes courtesy of Personal Trainer: Cooking, an upcoming title for the handheld Nintendo DS game console.
The game seems to be more of an interactive cookbook, leading you through 245 recipes with an onscreen guide, and using the DS' built-in mic for navigation if your hands are tied up with, you know, cooking stuff.
Packaged in a clearly Valentine-themed red cardboard box, we found a press release and a heart-shaped box--the kind typically used to hold … Read more
I'm a big fan of the fancy hot chocolates that come from coffee shops--the ones with little shavings of chocolate and a big dollop of whipped cream on top of the actual drink. With the Chocolate Mill from Williams-Sonoma, I can add those little tastes of chocolate to drinks at home. Using the Chocolate Mill is just a matter of loading it with the chocolate chunks of your choice, holding it over your drink, and turning the hand crank. You can choose chocolate a little more out of the ordinary than the typical milk chocolate most coffee shops seem … Read more
Wow. Hot chocolate season really snuck up on me. It seems as if only a few weeks ago I was complaining about the heat. Well, since I am in San Francisco, that very well could have been the case, but there is no mistaking it now: it is cold. We may have oddly timed summers around here, but winter still gets the cold treatment. Granted, not like elsewhere, but it is still definitely time for hot chocolate.
As a fan of the Bialetti stove top espresso maker, I am drawn to their version of the hot chocolate maker. Bialetti teamed … Read more

Pavlov would have been proud.
You've got your head down, diligently working on a big project (or schooling one of your Facebook pals on a word game). The world around you is a blur; you're in your own world. And then, the clock strikes 1, and you instinctively turn to get your reward.
You, too, can set your internal clock to pause at hourly intervals with the help of the Chococlock. Every hour on the hour, this clock plays "Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy" and opens the tiny doors on its front to reveal a … Read more
I've recently seen quite a few devices with an environmentally conscientious design. These devices generally consume less power and are made of recycled, non-toxic materials. Today, though, I got introduced a device that put "green" in a different light.
SimpleTech has gone far and long to make their its new (Re)Drive external hard drive as eco-friendly as possible. The device comes in a package that contains just the essentials: the drive plus its power and USB cables. The cables are are taped to a side of the box. There's no other paper or plastic or … Read more

Based on all the previously released LG Chocolate handsets in the U.S., there appear to be three defining characteristics of a Chocolate phone--it has touch-sensitive controls, it has a slider design, and it has a scroll wheel not unlike the iPod.
Well, the LG Chocolate 3 only has one out of the three characteristics, making us wonder if it even truly deserves the Chocolate branding (it doesn't even look anything like its namesake). Indeed, the LG Chocolate 3 has no touch-sensitive controls at all and is the first Chocolate handset to be in a flip form factor.
