Sony refreshed its car stereo lineup for 2008 here at CES with the debut of six new models in Xplod lineup including two with as-standard iPod connectivity, and two new Bluetooth-equipped head units. At the top of the range, the CDX-GT820IP comes with a 30-pin iPod connector enabling drivers to control their music libraries directly via the stereo itself. The Jabra BT8040 may not look like much when compared with the much fancier JX20 Pura, but it holds its own with powerful features and performance. Panasonic has detailed its 2008 home-theater-in-a-box line, which includes three models in the consumer-friendly sub-$500 range. In and of itself, that's not big news--except that we've frequently found Panasonic HTIBs (such as 2007's SC-PT750) to deliver a great bang for the buck.

All of the systems come with five-disc DVD changers, iPod flip-down docks with audio and video playback capabilties, and HDMI upscaling up to 1080p. Furthermore, the $400 SC-PT760 and $500 SC-PT960 models include a wireless rear speaker module in the box (it's sold separately as an upgrade on the entry-level $300 SC-PT660). The SC-PT760 comes with front speaker stands while the SC-PT960 has tallboy-style front-, left-, and right-channel speakers. Optimus Prime it's not, but the latest Jabra headset does something of a Transformer act of its own. The BT8030 model at first looks like a conventional set of headphones until it changes into a pair of laptop speakers or even a conference phone when connected via Bluetooth.

And if a call comes in while music is playing, the headset will automatically pause the MP3 file so you can answer it, according to Fareastgizmos. The multi-tasking gadget is kind of the big brother of the BT8010 earphone combo we saw earlier this year.
