Sony Ericsson's pretty red camera phone

Sony Ericsson has never been one to shy away from the high-powered camera phone. Its Cyber-shot series, which includes the Sony Ericsson K850i that we reviewed earlier this year, offers a solid set of handsets that excell both at taking pictures and making calls. One of its newest Cyber-shot models in the series is the Sony Ericsson C902, which we just reviewed. Sony Ericsson introduced the C902 at the GSMA World Congress last February.

Though we've had to wait a long time to review it, the C902 is an appealing camera phone with a sleek design and a loaded … Read more

Mercedes releases boring iPhone app for exciting car

Mercedes-Benz AMG is the next automaker to join the battle for customers' attention in the Apple iTunes App Store. Except while the other automakers have built apps that actually do something aside from advertise cars (for example, Audi's game and Ford's photo editor), Mercedes-Benz's app does nothing more than showcase the C63 AMG.

The main menu of the application features four options: Video, Photos, Sounds, Specs, and Find a Dealer.

Disappointingly, the Videos section is essentially a list of four videos that stream from Mercedes' Web site. Sorry, iPod Touch owners, this means that you'll have … Read more

Transcend debuts 500GB pocket hard drives

Transcend is kicking up its pocket-size external hard drives to 500GB, the company announced Tuesday. This is the second vendor I've run into that now offers compact external hard drives of this storage size. The first was OWC, with its Mercury On-The-Go, which came out awhile ago.

The new hard drives include two models: the StoreJet 25C and the StoreJet 25M, both of which are the company's most popular external storage products.

Both models are based on 2.5-inch 5400rpm SATA internal hard drives and feature USB-only connection interfaces with bus-powered capability. These drives are compact enough. However, … Read more

Pantech C610 unveiled and reviewed

Monday, Pantech and AT&T unveiled the Pantech C610. The C610 looks like a simple red and chrome handset on the surface, but underneath is a host of high-end features. They include 3G/HSDPA, a 1.3-megapixel camera and camcorder, a music player, AGPS (with support for AT&T Navigator), stereo Bluetooth, a microSD card slot, and more. Since it has HSDPA, the C610 also has access to AT&T's broadband services, such as AT&T Mobile Music (which lets you stream and download music from Napster and eMusic), AT&T streaming video, and … Read more

Intel Atom rival ships; larger Netbooks coming?

Are Netbooks ripe to be resized? Via Technologies thinks so. The Intel-compatible chipmaker says larger Netbooks are on the way.

In an interview, Glenn Henry, the head of Via Technologies subsidiary Centaur Technology, said that Via has just begun commercial shipments of its Intel-compatible, power-sipping Nano processor. Centaur headed up development of the Nano processor.

"We just started shipping to customers last week and this week--literally right now," Henry said.

Henry said there is a lot of demand for larger form factors. "Everyone wants to build a (Netbook) of some variety these days. Most of the interest … Read more
