Lenovo's 24-inch LED LCD: So far, so good

When Lenovo announced its ThinkVision L2440x LCD a couple weeks back, I wrote that I was excited about getting it in and testing it. After receiving it last week, I've only completed some preliminary anecdotal testing, but I wanted to write about some quick impressions I got from the monitor.

Acer, Toshiba, and Lenovo unveil WiMax laptops

Baltimore residents looking to take advantage of Sprint's brand-new Xohm WiMax data network can now choose among several laptops with built-in WiMax compatibility from such major manufacturers as Acer, Toshiba, and Lenovo.

On Wednesday, Acer announced that it would be bringing WiMax radios to two Aspire models, the 14.1-inch Aspire 4930-6862 and the 16-inch Aspire 6930-6771. Both laptops cost $899 and are built on Intel's Centrino 2 platform, with a 2.0GHz Core 2 Duo T7350 processor, 3GB of RAM, integrated graphics, and a 320GB hard drive.

You know how some weeks you're churning along--going to meetings, putting out fires, and somehow tending your regular workload as well--and suddenly you look up and it's Friday afternoon? Assessing small-biz laptops from Lenovo, Toshiba

We focus primarily on consumer laptops at CNET Reviews, but this week I looked at two well-designed models that target small businesses: the 13-inch Toshiba Satellite Pro U400 and the 14-inch Lenovo ThinkPad SL400.

Each configuration clocks in at just north of $1,000, stripping out some enterprise features that a small-business owner buying one laptop or even a handful probably doesn't need and definitely doesn't want to pay for. Hands-on with the Lenovo S10 Netbook

Those who follow the ever-growing Netbook market have been waiting for one fairly conspicuous straggler to arrive. Lenovo's IdeaPad S10 Netbook was originally announced way back on August 4, but has only just started shipping.

We eagerly checked the incoming-mail pile this morning, and were very excited to find a brand new Lenovo S10 waiting for us. Our review unit had an Intel Atom CPU, 1GB of RAM, and a standard 5,400rpm 160GB hard drive, as opposed to the smaller SSD hard drives found in many other Netbooks (including Dell's recent Inspiron Mini 9). The 10.2-inch display has a resolution of 1,024x600, which is standard for 9- and 10-inch Netbooks.

Checking out the Lenovo Web site this morning, only one version of the IdeaPad S10 was available. That model had 512MB of RAM and an 80GB hard drive, with a price of $439 (and a shipping estimate of 2-3 weeks), but the system should be available with other RAM and hard drive options soon. … Read more

With the back-to-school shopping season drawing to a close and the holiday shopping season not quite begun, life in the world of laptops is relatively quiet.

Relatively, but not completely: there were a handful of new products for notebook enthusiasts this week. Lenovo unveiled the wide-screen X200 Tablet and a sporty X200s at an event in New York. Dell announced two new business ultraportables, the Latitude E4200 and Latitude E4300. And Averatec launched the Buddy, which promptly won the Crave Best Netbook Name Ever™ award.

Review: Lenovo ThinkPad X301

About a month ago, Lenovo refreshed the 13.3-inch ThinkPad X300 (a CNET Editors' Choice winner) by incorporating one of Intel's new ultra-low-voltage Core 2 Duo CPUs, adding a DisplayPort connection, and rechristening it the ThinkPad X301.

As the product name indicates, it's an evolutionary step. The ThinkPad X301's Centrino 2 components helped it post better performance scores than its predecessor without taking a huge toll on battery life.

At Thursday's Pepcom press event in New York, Lenovo showed off an updated ultraportable Tablet PC and an even lighter version of the ThinkPad X200.

The ThinkPad X200 Tablet finally brings the wide-screen format to Lenovo's tablet line, with a 12.1-inch display and up to WXGA resolution.
