A U.K. teenager has been charged with five criminal offenses in connection with computer crimes associated with the LulzSec hacking group.

According to London police, Jake Davis, an 18-year-old man, was charged yesterday with gaining unauthorized access to a computer system, encouraging and assisting criminal offenses, and conspiracy to carry out a distributed denial of service (DDoS) attack on the Web site of the U.K.'s Serious Organized Crime Agency. He has also been charged with two other counts of conspiracy, both tied to the U.K.'s Computer Misuse Act.

A 19-year-old woman was arrested late last month in connection with an investigation into the theft and trashing of property from an apartment that had been rented out via a Web site rental service, San Francisco police confirmed to CNET today.

The arrest stems from an incident a San Francisco woman blogged about on June 29. A leader of a South Carolina Tea Party group has been arrested for allegedly selling pirated software.

Anthony Trinca, 61, is accused of selling versions of Microsoft Office, Windows, Adobe Photoshop, and Rosetta Stone language programs that were counterfeit, news site TG Daily reported today, one of several outlets to write about it. The British Metropolitan Police said today that they have arrested a 19-year-old who uses the nickname "Topiary" and is believed to be a key member of the LulzSec hacking group.

London's Metropolitan Police announced today that it has charged Ryan Cleary with five counts of violating British law in regard to cyberattacks.

Cleary, 19, of Essex was arrested yesterday in connection with a series of distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attacks allegedly carried out by the Internet hacking ring LulzSec.

Hacker group LulzSec has posted the names of two people it accuses of assisting in helping track down a teen suspected of being the notorious group's mastermind.

The post, signed by "LulzSec Security" and addressed to "FBI & other law enforcement clowns," includes the two men's home addresses as well as aliases, IM screen names, IP addresses, and in one case their phone number and date of birth.
