In launching the Samsung Galaxy Note 2, Samsung is hoping to repeat its own success with sales on the Galaxy S3 just a few months before, while also setting a record for the first quad-core smartphone to reach U.S. retail shelves.

On a busy day for Apple products, Bose decided to quietly announce the next generation of its portable wireless speakers, the SoundLink Bluetooth Mobile Speaker II, and the SoundLink Air system, its first-ever Apple Airplay-enabled product.

Samsung Electronics is giving some love to prepaid wireless providers Boost Mobile and Virgin Mobile.

The two prepaid players, both units of Sprint Nextel, will each be getting their own Galaxy smartphones.
