Come this Friday, Sprint will be the first US carrier to stock HTC's first supersize smartphone, the HTC One Max.
With its enormous 5.9-inch 1080p HD screen, 4-"UltraPixel" camera, and 1.7GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 processor, it's certainly striving to recapture some of the original HTC One's excellence.
However, the Max's design does present a few features all its own, like a fingerprint scanner and a microSD card slot.
Sprint will sell the hulking handset beginning November 15 for $250 with a new two-year service agreement. With Sprint's One Up … Read more
Google's inexpensive, new Android phones mean the company has a real chance at transforming the wireless industry -- something it attempted to do nearly four years ago with the Nexus One.
In October, the company released the Nexus 5, a top-end phone built by LG Electronics that has a remarkably low price of $349 for a 16GB model -- unlocked and with no contract. On Wednesday, Google announced the Moto G, which costs $179 for an 8GB model, also unlocked and off contract. … Read more
The HTC One Max will reach Sprint customers on Friday, November 15, according to a Best Buy preorder page.
The page shows the phone selling for $250 with the standard two-year contract. Sprint subscribers who want to replace their current device off contract would have to pay the full price of $750 for the One Max.
Outfitted with a 5.9-inch screen, the One Max is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 1.7GHz quad-core processor and offers a fingerprint scanner to unlock the device.
The large smartphone, aka phablet, is already available in China and parts of Europe. In … Read more
Fans of Google's Nexus series of smartphones often have lots of positive things to say about the devices, but glowing praise for the included camera usually isn't included.
While the recently released Nexus 5 makes some improvements on the lackluster shooter of its predecessor, the Nexus 4, a hacker over at the XDA developers forum has taken it a step further with a mod that's like digital steroids for its 8-megapixel camera.… Read more
The successor to the HTC One could arrive at all four of the big wireless service providers in early 2014, according to recent chatter.
A pair of tweets from the well-connected @evleaks Twitter feed suggests that HTC will release its next flagship across AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile, and Verizon within the next few months. It's not clear if this means that all four will carry the device on the same launch day, but it would be a big win for HTC no matter what the timing.
Operating under the code name M8, HTC's next big phone is … Read more
Cellular provider Republic Wireless, best known for offering $19-per-month service with low-end Android handsets, recently announced plans to carry the Motorola Moto X, a decidedly high-end handset (and a widely loved one at that). Although the $19 plan is no more, you can operate the Moto for as little as $5 per month, or as much as $40. Additional options fall in between.
Too good to be true? Or bargain of the century? Over the weekend I was able to put the Moto X through some preliminary paces. Though I did encounter a few bumps along the way, I was … Read more
Have you ever been reading an important e-mail, studying some notes, or playing a game, when a call interrupts you? Wouldn't it be nice if you could quickly dismiss the call without putting your current activity in the background? That's exactly what Call PopOut does for you.
Instead of interrupting, Call Pop Out puts the incoming call in a tiny bubble, the same way Facebook uses Chat Heads for new messages. Ready to give it a look? Let's get to it:
Sure the Moto X isn't the most powerful Android handset money can buy. Neither is it a big-screen mobile monster like the Samsung Galaxy Note 3. Nor is the Moto X equipped with a ridiculously high-capacity battery … Read more
By saying the words "OK, Google" when the phone is unlocked, you can launch any of Google Now's actions -- like searching the Web or dialing a number -- without having to touch the screen. Several Motorola phones, like the Moto X, did this prior to the Nexus 5's Android 4.4 KitKat OS.
Voice-activated Google Now is a terrific little convenience that can save time or … Read more
